Notable or to delete ?

[edit]

Searching the network for information about this person retrieves a fairly high amount of pages, however all of them are less than 6 months old. Seems like a completely unknown person (or at least one who was very little known in his country and basically unknown world wide) got attention by legal claims against a notable person; this is certainly not the kind of notability described by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability#Notability_is_not_temporary Even though I am not a WiiPedia expert I suggest this page to be deleted and kindly ask more expert people to review the issue — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.239.184.73 (talk) 17:57, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • I can comment for France. The French wikipedia article about her has been created in March 2008, so far before the events you talk about, and as far as I can see her notability has never been challenged. In France I would say she is a promising novelist who has written a handful of books, won a few accolades, and encountered moderate success, especially with J’ai oublié de la tuer. • She is notable enough. Albeit as one of the endless roll of "celebrities" that the world seems to trot out today. (You could argue that, as with most of so-called celebrities, the notability does not come from any particular talent of her own but via her family connections. And it is unlikely she would ever have been published were she not so closely linked to the Strauss-Kahn family and so on. But, then, you can probably say the same about half of the bios in Wikipedia. They only found success because they had a wealthy/famous father/mother. And Banon is one of those). Corrections to DSK section

[edit]

Calling this section "Banon's dismissed allegations against Dominique Strauss-Kahn" is highly misleading. The Reuters source states that the statute of limitations on sexual assault prevented there being a criminal case against DSK. The Independent (http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/dsk-guilty-of-sex-assault-ndash-but-escapes-shame-of-a-trial-2370349.html) states that '...the Paris state prosecution service said that Mr Strauss-Kahn had "admitted" sexually assaulting Ms Banon when he was questioned by detectives...'.

DSK admitting to sexually assaulting Banon - even though Banon claimed rape - does not warrant the adjective "dismissed". I shall now change the title and clarify the text, as well as add the source from the Independent. 7daysahead (talk) 23:12, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think a little care needs to be taken here - the comment - The prosecutors said the attempted kiss was sexual assault but that the rape accusation was a case of "one person's word against another". portrays the situation imo. Off2riorob (talk) 23:15, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hm, that seems pretty reasonable, and is why I chose to quote the Independent directly rather than risk using my own words. I definitely think that that section should start with a summary of the entire thing - allegation, investigation, conclusion. It's past midnight here so I shan't edit any more tonight - would be interested to see what improvements could be made. 7daysahead (talk) 23:30, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
