Large list of locations

[edit]

The large list of locations and addresses added by a paid editor is really not required, we can visit there own website for this detail. Theroadislong (talk) 15:38, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Comments on article

  • What is the link between the Alabama Civil Rights Trail and the United States one? The article is unclear.
  • There is some WP:OVERCITE happening here.
  • several of which are operated by the NPS. How many? Or at least including X national monuments.
  • It would be good if there was an infobox which would also be a good place for the map.
  • Is there a photo of a sign for the trail in Commons?
  • Is it worth mentioning that it is not an A to B type trail but instead a collection of related places?

So, now that I'm no longer banished from contributing to this extremely worthy page, may I now add the landmarks list, which is almost identical to other published pages, including the Meridian Trail, which was added as a related site? The sole reason it's being denied is my sin of disclosing professional status. Well, I'm now on a volunteer basis for this page. Does that help or does my stalker's perplexing anger rule over a legitimate contribution to an important page? Thanks. Danceswithedits (talk) 21:15, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The list was correctly removed by this edit [1] of User:Praxidicae it is not required, we can visit their own website for the details, Wikipedia articles merely report what independent sources say, they don't parrot what the topics own website says. Theroadislong (talk) 21:20, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, here's my all-time favorite!
Monmouth Heritage Trail - Wikipedia
24 lovely trail sites broken down by such vital categories as importance grade, geo location (with external links!), and detailed descriptions that I'm willing to wager come directly from a...website. Now why didn't I think to add the grades. Dang it. Danceswithedits (talk) 22:03, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Here is a tiny sampling of similar published Wikipedia articles (i.e. Heritage Trails) with similar or virtually identical lists:
Arkansas Highway 247 - Wikipedia
Fremantle walking tours and trails - Wikipedia
Golden Pipeline Heritage Trail - Wikipedia
Louisiana African American Heritage Trail - Wikipedia
American Whiskey Trail - Wikipedia
Meridian Civil Rights Trail - Wikipedia
Boston Women's Heritage Trail - Wikipedia
Ping Shan Heritage Trail - Wikipedia
Central and Western Heritage Trail - Wikipedia
Lung Yeuk Tau - Wikipedia
Baltimore Heritage Walk - Wikipedia (My personal favorite!) Unsourced and should probably be deleted. Theroadislong (talk) 20:09, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
List of Washburne Historic District walking tour houses - Wikipedia
If the rationale is that the U.S. Civil Rights Trail landmarks are unnecessary, then every other Heritage Trail site list on Wikipedia should logically be removed as well as each and every one is drawn in some form from the source, and NOT independent sources. Some are very clearly copy/pasted, along with images and content. In this case, that does not apply as no pictures have been added and not a single copy/paste from the CRT website exists. Facts are pesky things, don't you find? Danceswithedits (talk) 21:45, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Correct, that content should probably be removed, the fact that other poor quality articles exist is not an excuse. Theroadislong (talk) 21:53, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
With respect to several of your questions:
  • What is the link between the Alabama Civil Rights Trail and the United States one? The article is unclear. (The Alabama CRT is an incorporated member of the US CRT)
  • several of which are operated by the NPS. How many? Or at least including X national monuments. (That can be easily incorporated in the landmark chart that's been rejected for no valid reason.)
  • It would be good if there was an infobox which would also be a good place for the map. (I'm happy to add that.)
  • Is there a photo of a sign for the trail in Commons? (Good question. To my knowledge, no.)
  • Is it worth mentioning that it is not an A to B type trail but instead a collection of related places? (Probably worth mentioning.)

Once again, one individual is interfering with legitimate contributions which I have clearly and undeniably proven to be worthy of inclusion based on firmly established Wikipedia precedent. The warring is 100% on the other editor's end in this case, as has been made clear by words and actions. Since you've participated on this page, I hope you will intervene and do the right thing here. Thank you. Danceswithedits (talk) 17:38, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please use the [WP:ER|request edits]] format to request changes and gain consensus. Theroadislong (talk) 17:28, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Once again, I am no longer a paid editor for this article. Please discontinue interfering with legitimate contributions, which at this point may be construed as racism based on the content. Your harassment and completely unjustified interference will again be reported. Danceswithedits (talk) 17:35, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Once a paid editor, always a paid editor. Otherwise, the loophole is just too big. Please continue to do what WP:PAID requires on this article. And unjustified accusations of racism will result in you being blocked from editing. If you want feedback from more than one editor, ask neutrally for more eyes at an appropriate wikiproject. --Floquenbeam (talk) 18:02, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nonsense. Once again, you are incorrect and demonstrating personal bias. My work on this page is now PURELY VOLUNTARY. I do not receive a single penny. I accused no one of racism, but offered an OPINION that this "may be construed as racism" (operative word "may") due to the content matter and FACT that nearly identical articles are not being attacked by you. Here's a better idea: stop interfering because of your personal issues and allow this relevant and important U.S. history article to proceed. Your feedback is neither wanted, nor welcome. Danceswithedits (talk) 16:05, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Attacking User:Floquenbeam is not likely to improve your chances of getting your edits accepted. We work by consensus here and so far you have no support or consensus I suggest you WP:DROPTHESTICK Theroadislong (talk) 16:50, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Briefly: I am not attacking any articles for personal issues. I have no opinion on the inclusion or exclusion of those tables, only that you need to get consensus to include them here before they get added. In any case, I'm not trying to convince you any longer, just clearly telling you what will happen if you directly edit the article to add disputed material again without consensus on the talk page: I, or another admin, will block you from editing. Also, you don't have any say in whether someone else provides feedback or not. Floquenbeam (talk) 18:30, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have no idea what attacks you're referring to, honestly. My only criticisms about personal issues are directed squarely at User:Theroadislong who has been relentlessly and openly harassing since I first followed Wikipedia guidelines in disclosing my paid status. Regardless, the landmark chart CLEARLY belongs on this page as I've demonstrated beyond any rational doubt. Consensus should be automatic at this point unless anyone can justify removing identical charts from EVERY article like this on Wikipedia. Failing that, I see no reason why I should not have the right to add the chart without further interference. Regards. Danceswithedits (talk) 16:01, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please note that my response was not directed at you, but at the constant harassment from another editor. That said, "always a paid editor" is patently false, as I'm not always paid to edit. Facts matter. Danceswithedits (talk) 16:06, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This [2] is another personal attack, please stop, I simply asked you to use the [WP:ER|request edits]] format to request changes and gain consensus. Theroadislong (talk) 16:17, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
