Decommissioning/Cleanup Section Needed

[edit]

"Decommissioning/Cleanup Section" is needed after the "Closure/extension planning Section" to bring the page up to date.

The Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant entrance now displays a "NorthStar" sign, when visiting their webpage there is a section labled Nuclear at <https://www.northstar.com/services/nuclear-services/> and under it is a link to the Entergy webpage quoted below.

Here is a quote from an Entergy webpage "VERNON, Vermont – Entergy Corp. (NYSE: ETR) announced today an agreement to sell Entergy Nuclear Vermont Yankee and transfer the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission licenses to subsidiaries of NorthStar Group Services...." at <https://www.entergynewsroom.com/news/vermont-yankeedecommissioning-accelerated-by-decades/>.

No more information was found on these webpages, so to complete this section more research will be needed. The most logical places to find this permit information and progress reports are: the town of Vernon, the state of Vermont, and the NRC,

Here are several URLs reporting on the plant history, status and the transfer of fuel to dry storage casks, a major milestone:

Also, the Yankee Rowe Nuclear Power Station is a source for the Decommissioning tasks and their sequence. dond (talk) 17:45, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
