GA review

[edit]

I have looked over the article, and see a few problems, but before I start listing them, I'd like somebody to see if they can find any more references about anything in the article. iMatthew 2008 20:51, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The trouble, this is basically an obscure Flemish folk sport. Outside of Belgium and a few clubs in the Netherlands it doesn't exist. Hence, English sources are extremely limited. The one recent article that is referenced was syndicated in a few other papers, but there are basically no other news sources and no books. There is one unreliable-looking book called "Weird Europe", but it's one paragraph mention confuses the sport with catching wild finches (for vinkensport). So, to make a long story short, no. Plenty of Google hits, but hardly any reliable sources. VanTucky 21:15, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have looked as well, but I haven't been able to find any more reliable sources written in English (or any other language that I could translate). As VanTucky said, Google hits exist, but many are blog entries that don't work as reliable sources. GaryColemanFan (talk) 22:24, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for taking a look GaryColemanFan, I really appreciate it. VanTucky 01:04, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I see, thats ok. Expect a full review tomorrow. iMatthew 2008 01:24, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! VanTucky 02:41, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you can find any more details, this programme by Jeremy Clarkson featured this sport a few years ago. Peanut4 (talk) 11:33, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review 2

[edit]

Not really sure what happened to the GA review mentioned up above, but I guess I'll take over. Basically the article's great! GA passed! I don't really see the limit sources as a huge problem. It's a pretty obscure topic, and the sources provided are solid, so no worries there. Might be a problem for FA, but I'm cool with it. I do have one minor suggestion:

  • "By the late nineteenth century, vinkenzetting's popularity had diminished significantly; it saw a resurgence after the First World War." The semi-colon makes this sentence a little awkward, and a big gramatical/tense jump. Try to rephrase.

Anyways, great job! Drewcifer (talk) 00:14, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a million for the review, I'll try and revise the grammar of that one. VanTucky 00:37, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
