Suicide note
[edit]Could someone who speaks Russian please translate the content of Drunina's suicide note? Katharineamy (talk) 13:59, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
- Here's a literal translation of the note. I'm not a native English speaker, so it may require some style and perhaps grammar editing. "Why am I going to pass away? Staying in this terrible, fighting "iron-elbowed" world is only posible for such an imperfect creature like me if it has strongly secured rear. Besides I lost two things that supported me: my love to the old Crimean woods and requirement of creativity. It's better for me to pass away now on my free will, while I'm not still physically broken and spiritually grown old. However, a thought on a suicide sin torments me in spite of my being non-believer. But if God really exists, he will understand me." Alexey.tses (talk) 10:42, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
- This note does not explain anything. She explained this in her poem:
(read also "Enchanted with death" by Svetlana Aleksievich)
I think these words from her war poetry are probably most famous:
Unfortunately, my English skills are insufficient to translate poetry. My very best wishes (talk) 05:28, 17 March 2013 (UTC)
