Chinese name

[edit]

What is the Chinese name of this island? — Instantnood 23:05, 5 May 2006 (UTC) I cannot even find this island on map. — Instantnood 21:44, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Me neither. I think it might refer to the peninsula about 500 years ago - as, I believe, it was a mud spit that was filled in. Requires research. SchmuckyTheCat 22:12, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
What I'm thinking is that it is an island separated from the continent by the distributaries around. — Instantnood 22:19, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
? Right where the peninsula connects to the mainland, it's actually fairly thin plot of land. I've read this was muddy 500 years ago, and was water during high tide. It was filled in. Thus, what is now the peninsula was formerly an island and this name referred to that. I can't verify this right now, and don't know that I believe it either. Wait. You're talking about the Macao Peninsula, am I right? Obviously that's not what this article talks about. The article actually says, IMHO, the Macao Peninsula is part of this island. The urban centre of Zhuhai and part of Zhongshan probably also lie on this island. — Instantnood 23:28, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Roughly, on this map [1], Shenwan, Tanzhou, Qianshan, Gongbei, Tangjia, Jingding, Nanlang, Hengmen, Zhongshangang, Dongsheng, Xiaolan, Henglan, Dachong, Banfu are on this island, iff it's "Zhongchan Dao" is really referring to the island separated from the continent by distributaries. — Instantnood 23:33, 12 May 2006 (UTC) (modified 17:57, 14 May 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Sort of, it looks like a compilation of statistics from the rest of Wikipedia. In any case, it's not a citable page. SchmuckyTheCat 20:13, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Is it a Wikipedia mirror site, as you've claimed [2]? — Instantnood 20:20, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not an island

[edit]

This is not an island, and if it is, its real name should be Zhongshan Island (中山島) instead of Zhongchan Dao.

Zhongshan Island was once an island but now fused into the mainland. As for the details, you can see this if you can understand Chinese: zh:中山市--LosAngelesT (talk) 17:45, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
