A Very Stable Genius

  • ... that the title of the book A Very Stable Genius comes from a tweet by Donald Trump? Source: ""Actually, throughout my life, my two greatest assets have been mental stability and being, like, really smart," Trump tweeted. He added that being elected president "on my first try" should "qualify as not smart, but genius ... and a very stable genius at that!"" [1] "The title of this book borrows Trumps own words..." [2]

  • New, long enough per DYK check even after subtracting long quotes, cited, seems neutral (questions below), Earwig reports violation unlikely; QPQ done
  • Hook in article, cited, interesting
  • @Indignant Flamingo: Are there other reviews of the book, say the Wall Street Journal? any other points of view on this book? responses by Donald Trump? Thanks, Zeete (talk) 18:46, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
  • Zeete, thanks for the review and comments. The article reflects coverage in reliable sources (NYT, Guardian, Post, Seattle Times) so far, while avoiding the sensationalist interpretations (e.g. SCMP/Business Insider). I take the point of the WSJ question to be: what about the more conservative reviews? When they show up in RS, we'll put them in, whether that's tomorrow or a year from now. As far as Trump's response, Trump has since insulted the authors of the book and their employer, but he also did that before the book was published, and taking the view that we are an encyclopedia rather than a news outlet, I figured we could wait and see what kind of reliable source coverage of responses would appear, and develop the article accordingly. • I should probably say that the Times review will be added shortly, and it's not as favorable to the authors as some of the other reviews, if that shapes your thinking here. Indignant Flamingo (talk) 19:37, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
  • @Indignant Flamingo: Thanks for your detailed response. This satisfies my concerns.
  • Good to go. Thanks, Zeete (talk) 20:02, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
  • There is potential for much more interesting hooks.
ALT1: ... that A Very Stable Genius claims Donald Trump tried to undo the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, saying it is "so unfair that American companies aren't allowed to pay bribes to get business overseas"?
Pinging EEng, the esteemed Trump museum curator, for further input. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 22:40, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
You rang?
  • ALT2 ... that A Very Stable Genius has chapters entitled "Unhinged", "Shocking the Conscience", and "Paranoia and Pandemonium", and claims that Donald Trump tried to legalize foreign bribery? -EEng 23:04, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
