Dennis Albaugh[edit]

1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible
1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible
  • ... that Dennis Albaugh owns "probably" the best collection of Chevy convertibles ('57 Bel Air pictured) in the US? Source: " 'He's got a fabulous collection,' said Murl Randall, 83, a Chevrolet historian and collector from Houghton Lake, Mich., who is known as Pinky. 'It's probably the best assemblage of convertible Chevys in the country.' " ([1])
  • Alt1: ... that Dennis Albaugh has rounded-up "probably" the best collection of Chevy convertibles ('57 Bel Air pictured) in the US?

Created by Edwardx (talk) and Philafrenzy (talk). Nominated by Edwardx (talk) at 22:08, 3 October 2018 (UTC).

Added Alt - he made his money from a generic version of the pesticide Roundup. Philafrenzy (talk) 09:47, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
  • New article that's long enough, decently written, and sourced. Hooks are cited and I prefer Alt1 because of the pun. Image is public domain. Will be good to go after Edwardx adds his QPQ. Morgan Ginsberg (talk) 11:35, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
  • The QPQ has been done. But I don't like putting "probably" in quotes; it looks like it's implying it's not the best collection. Also, the pun is totally lost on the casual hook reader, and clicking on the link to get to a herbacide page looks like an error. Could you submit another alt? If you want to use the "probably" quote, maybe use more of the quote. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 20:44, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
  • I'm marking this for closure. There is no hook right now and the nominator has been editing. SL93 (talk) 21:00, 2 December 2018 (UTC)
  • Alt2: ... that businessman Dennis Albaugh owns one of the best collections of Chevy convertibles ('57 Bel Air pictured) in the US? Philafrenzy (talk) 23:18, 2 December 2018 (UTC)
    • Pinging Yoninah about the new hook. SL93 (talk) 23:20, 2 December 2018 (UTC)
  • How about:
  • ALT3: ... that Dennis Albaugh's collection of 150 classic Chevrolet convertibles includes all the Tri-Five Chevys ('57 Bel Air pictured) and models from 1912 to 1975? Yoninah (talk) 23:43, 2 December 2018 (UTC)
Can something else be proposed here? I don't like ALT2 since "best" is a subjective term, while ALT3 doesn't seem to be too interesting for non-car fans. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 11:54, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
  • His notability is based on his car collection. How about:
  • ALT4: ... that despite his father refusing to buy him a convertible, believing they were not safe, Dennis Albaugh later built a collection described as "the best assemblage" of Chevrolet convertibles in the US ('57 Bel Air pictured)? Yoninah (talk) 14:03, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
Length, Date, Cite, and Earwigs check. Image is public domain due to its age and lack of copyright notice when published. I tweaked ALT4 a bit to include part of the NYT quote and it and ALT3 would be approved except that the listed QPQ was not done by the article nominator. Edwardx, once a QPQ is complete these should be good to go. Best, Mifter (talk) 22:48, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
There is no rule that the QPQ has to be done by the nominator. In this case it was gifted by Whispyhistory. It only matters that the review has not already been used. Philafrenzy (talk) 23:09, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
- While WP:QPQ does say "For every nomination you make you must review one other nomination" which would imply the nominator, I know we generally allow "donations" if a reviewer chooses. Both hooks are therefore approved. Mifter (talk) 05:50, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
