ALT1 ... that the premiere of Erik Bergman's only full-length opera Det sjungande trädet (The Singing Tree) was delayed for over a year because of its complex staging requirements?

The article was nominated three days after its creation, and according to DYKcheck is long enough at 2044 prose characters. I have added an initial standard "that" to ALT1, and also the word "over" to ALT1 because the premiere was delayed from sometime during the 1993/94 season (August 1993 through June 1994) until September 3, 1995, which could be anywhere from 14 to 25 months, not a single year. (I have struck the original hook; I agree that it is less interesting.) The hook facts are supported except for the "only full-length opera" claim; I imagine a source from after his death (or an obituary) could establish this; it needs to be placed after the first sentence in the "Background and performance history" section. The article appears neutral and free from close paraphrasing. Gerda Arendt, I am a bit troubled by the QPQ offered: basic checks such as length and newness were not listed, nor were policy checks on neutrality and close paraphrasing, just "interesting and well sourced", plus a check of the image. I think this needs a more comprehensive QPQ. Voceditenore, you might want to add information about subsequent mountings of the opera, of which there was at least one: the Finnish National Opera performed it in Berlin in 1999 (there's most of a sentence about that here). Hi BlueMoonset. I've now added the ref again just after the statement in addition to after the following sentence. It says of Det sjungande trädet: "It was surely only a matter of time before the “grand old man” of the Finnish avantgarde would turn his hand to opera. Many features of his vocal works had already hinted at this direction [...] The nearest to the world of opera which Bergman has come previously was in Samothrake, his “musico-dramatic tableau” from 1971.". Update. Hi BlueMoonset, me again. I switched to a better ref for that statement, the one from Gramophone Magazine (already in the article elsewhere). Their reviews are often subscription only, depending on how many times you access them. Anyhow, the quote from the review is: "The Singing Tree is Erik Bergman's only full-length opera and, as fellow-composer Jouni Kaipainen comments in the booklet, is a 'grand synthesis' of his life's work". I also added a ref from The Independent (currently free to view): "Bergman's long stylistic journey reached its final goal in his only opera, Det sjungande trädet ("The Singing Tree"), which took two years (1986-88) to write." and one verifying that his 1971 Samothrake Op. 69 was only 12 minutes long. Voceditenore, the one from The Independent is ideal; it's from after his death, and states that this was his only opera. (The Gramophone reference, since it comes from 1993, is not adequate to establish "only", since while this was his only opera then, it's possible that he could have written another in the succeeding thirteen years before his death.) All that's needed now is to hear from Gerda on the QPQ; once that's settled, this will be ready to go. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:00, 21 March 2015 (UTC)
