Henry Trigg (testator)

[edit]
Henry Trigg's coffin
Henry Trigg's coffin
  • ... that Henry Trigg had his coffin (pictured) placed in the rafters of his barn to stop his grave being robbed, but his skeleton was stolen anyway? Sources: "he and two friends witnessed grave robbers at a local graveyard, and they vowed to make sure this would not happen to them", "Therefore, Trigg's remains were [...] hoisted into the rafters of the barn behind the shop", "Commonwealth soldiers billeted in Stevenage are reported to have stolen the bones"
    • ALT1:... that the ghost of Henry Trigg roams his house searching for his stolen remains? Source: "It is said that Trigg's ghost wanders the old house searching for his remains."
  • Reviewed: Racket-tailed roller
  • Comment: I think this would be perfect for Halloween, so may need to be reviewed quickly. I'm happy for any other ALTs or improvements on my hooks to be suggested as well.

  • New enough, long enough, neutrally written, well referenced, no close paraphrasing seen. Approving ALT1, which is perfect for Halloween. ALT1 hook ref verified and cited inline. QPQ done. Good to go. Yoninah (talk) 22:26, 24 October 2016 (UTC)
  • Thanks. If a picture is needed, could ALT1 be altered to include a mention of the coffin? Maybe something like this:
  • ALT2: ... that the ghost of Henry Trigg roams his house searching for his remains, which were stolen from his coffin (pictured)? anemoneprojectors 07:08, 25 October 2016 (UTC)
  • ALT2 hook refs are also verified and cited inline. Image is freely licensed. ALT2 also good to go. Yoninah (talk) 21:12, 25 October 2016 (UTC)
  • I am surprised to see that Wikipedia's voice is stating that Trigg's ghost roams his house. Neither the article nor its source go beyond "is said" to roam; I don't see how any hook can be more definite than that. Yoninah, AnemoneProjectors, I don't think either ALT1 or ALT2 passes muster absent some modification. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:17, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
  • Can we not get away with it for Halloween, like we could if it were April Fools' Day? If not, can the original hook be unstruck and reviewed? anemoneprojectors 08:06, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
  • Hi BlueMoonset, I was just thinking the same thing overnight. I think we should add "supposedly roams" or "is said to roam" to the hook. Yoninah (talk) 09:50, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
  • ALT3: ... that the ghost of Henry Trigg is said to roam his house searching for his remains, which were stolen from his coffin (pictured)? anemoneprojectors 05:54, 27 October 2016 (UTC)
  • ALT3 is verified and cited inline. Good to go. Yoninah (talk) 23:32, 27 October 2016 (UTC)
