Sammy Woodhouse[edit]

Created by Wumbolo (talk). Self-nominated at 20:21, 5 December 2018 (UTC).

  • - Hi Wumbolo. I was in the process of reviewing this, but am concerned that this article might fall into WP:BLP1E as it looks like coverage of Woodhouse is solely around this (horrific) occurrence. Best, Mifter (talk) 00:22, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
  • @Mifter: the last paragraph in the Activism section talks about her recent petition to change a law, which seems a bit separate from the previous interviews and coverage. That's how I found out about her and wrote the article. This is my logic here about the notability, and if you disagree you may take it to AfD. wumbolo ^^^ 06:16, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems

Hook eligibility:

QPQ: Done.

Overall: Almost everything looks good - but I do think the hook could be more impactful considering that her interview was the impetus for discovering something that affected 1,400 children. Also, the linked article still doesn't mention her in the text - Wumbolo, are you planning on changing this? It might also be useful to put something similar to the DYK in the lead. originalmesshow u doin that busta rhyme? 04:09, 27 January 2019 (UTC)

  • @Originalmess: Here's ALT1; it is 30 characters longer:
ALT1: ... that an interview with Sammy Woodhouse sparked an inquiry revealing the sexual abuse of about 1,400 children in Rotherham, England between 1997 and 2013?
It seems more natural. I removed "for The Times" because Andrew Norfolk should take credit for the interviews. I've now added her name to the other article where it talks about Norfolk's articles [1]. Maybe there's some other content in that article which refers to her, but I'm not sure which and I don't want to draw too many connections as per WP:BLP (WP:AVOIDVICTIM). I have also added a bit about this to this article's lead, as you suggested. Thank you very much for the review and the suggestions. wumbolo ^^^ 17:37, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
Nice work, ALT1 and the articles look good to me. Passed imo unless a more experienced reviewer has any comments. originalmesshow u doin that busta rhyme? 02:18, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
