Unionization

Created by Karnataka (talk). Self-nominated at 22:53, 23 July 2023 (UTC). Post-promotion hook changes for this nom will be logged at Template talk:Did you know nominations/Unionization; consider watching this nomination, if it is successful, until the hook appears on the Main Page.

  • Per a comment on the article's talk page, I think there is perhaps a bit too much overlap in coverage with Trade union at present. Since the editor who created and nominated this article appears to still be working on it, I'm inclined to encourage them to continue building it out for another 48-72 hours before giving them a more thorough review. @Karnataka: please ping me when you feel like you've sufficiently expanded the article's coverage of unionization to allow it to stand apart from Trade union and other union articles. Thank you! ~ Pbritti (talk) 14:43, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
  • The hook as written seems like it goes to the article about the first labor strike, so there is an MOS:EGG issue. I also think that, for a topic as big as this, it should hopefully be possible to find something much more interesting than a "this was the first one"-type hook. {{u|Sdkb}}talk 17:09, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
  • ALT1: ... that in the US, the amount of workers represented by a union is increasing but the share of workers represented by a union is decreasing at the same time? Source: [4] [5]
  • ALT2: ... that in the US, the number of employees represented by a union is rising while the proportion of workers represented by a union is decreasing? Source: [6] [7]
  • These hooks are from some research points I had in mind - I agree the first wasn't the best choice. I've added some information, but I'd still need to add some sort of history section about the formation of unions, and expand on country section with statistics and explanations. Karnataka (talk) 12:01, 26 July 2023 (UTC)
  • Not a review; just noting that ALT1 has incorrect grammar. That should presumably be "number of workers". Schwede66 20:59, 28 July 2023 (UTC)
  • Pbritti I can expand this further if needed, but I think that this is probably sufficient enough for now. ALT2 should probably be the best choice, noting the above comment. Karnataka talk 19:27, 31 July 2023 (UTC)
  • @Karnataka, Pbritti, Sdkb, and Schwede66: There hasn't been movement on this nomination since the end of July. Are there still any remaining issues or is this good to go? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 03:02, 23 September 2023 (UTC)
    • Seeing as the article has stood the test of time, I think my concerns were unfounded. Approve only ALT1 and ALT2. ~ Pbritti (talk) 03:40, 23 September 2023 (UTC)
    • Pbritti, I have struck ALT1 as per my comment above. Schwede66 03:58, 23 September 2023 (UTC)
