Alaska categories
[edit]The template has started being used on eg Category:1916 Alaska elections, which it tries to put in the WP:REDNOT category Category:1916 in Territory of Alaska Regardless of the niceties, the convention in the Category:Years in Alaska hierarchy is to just use plain "Alaska" rather than "Territory of Alaska", could someone fix the template accordingly? #ifexist is expensive?
[edit]@BrownHairedGirl:: I'd first put in "#ifexist:" but took them out later because I'd seen somewhere that they were processor-expensive. You've just restored them… does that mean it is ok to use them even though this template is transcluded 6,584 times? —GoldRingChip 21:35, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
- @GoldRingChip: {{Navseasoncats}} uses the same check, and is transcluded on over 240,000 pages without problem.
- Yes, it's an expensive function, so it needs to be used sparingly, but ten uses per page is trivial. And category pages have low viewing rates, so the overall impact is trivial. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 21:42, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
- Ah! I see. Then that is ok. Thank you. —GoldRingChip 21:51, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
