Orion Health (software)[edit]

Orion Health is a New Zealand-based software company that delivers and sells healthcare software.

It offers solutions for public healthcare and private healthcare organisations. It provides software for healthcare providers, from integration through to population health management and precision medicine. It has more than 450 customers in 25 countries.[1]

The company founder [2] and current CEO is Ian McCrae. [3] The company's head office is in Grafton, Auckland, New Zealand.[4]

In 1998, Orion Health (formerly known as Orion Systems International) began physically expanding into North America, the United Kingdom and Australia. After a number of small scale sales, the Canadian State of Alberta, purchased a full Health Information Exchange (HIE) in 2003.[5][6]

Australia then followed suit in 2004, with the purchase of a full HIE for the state of New South Wales.

Orion Health had been a privately owned company for over 20 years[7], but it became a public organization on 26 November 2014 when it listed on the NZX. [8]

As of 2016, Orion Health is working with the New Zealand government on a public-private research partnership to promote precision-driven healthcare.[9][10] Today the company has more than 1200 staff globally.[11]

The company also has a presence in Europe, and is most recently working with Dorset County in 2017.[12]

Orion Health has been headquartered in Auckland, New Zealand since 1993, with new premises opened in 2010[4]. In 2015 Orion Health chose the Scottsdale Airpark area for its North American operations center.[16]
