Barbara Herzog (Zurich, Switzerland, 1975) is a Swiss and Italian poet and translator

Barbara Herzog was born in Switzerland in a multilinguistic context and moved to Italy when she was twenty, where she graduated with a thesis on African literature, for whose research she won a scholarship in London, England.

Biography

She is a translator and interpreter between Italian, English, German, French and Spanish; a writer of poems, short stories, reviews, articles and an advocate of human rights.

She worked for several years as a clerk at the International Protection Desk for Asylum Seekers and Refugees and as a mediator for victims of trafficking and on various projects against FGM.

She has published the poetry collections Riflesso/Reflejo (ed. Efímera & ed. UNAH, Honduras, 2023), Pétalos de asombro (ed. Nueve editores 2022, plaquette with an introduction by Andrés Torres Guerrero), Nada Más (ed. Puntoacapo 2021, with an introduction by Graziella Sidoli), Se non nel silenzio (ed. L'arcolaio 2015, with an introduction by Francesca Serragnoli) and Sopravvento (ed. Raffaelli 2012, with an introduction by Davide Rondoni). She has translated from Swiss-German to Italian the collection of poems Öpper het mini Chnöche vertuuschet (Qualcuno ha scambiato le mie ossa) by Ursula Hohler (ed. Capire 2020). She is also a proof reader of literary works/translations. She has taken part in various conferences, festivals and poetry presentations (e.g. Infinito 200 at the Accademia Mondiale della Poesia in Verona) and has been mentioned in anthologies (e.g. In My Secret Life - Mirada de Pájaro Editores, Bogotá) and online (e.g. on Luigia Sorrentino's blog, Rai News), and her poems have been translated and published in magazines in Latin America.
