Merseyside[edit]

District A[edit]

This is the present Sefton and [[West Lancashire], minus Bootle and a few parishes from Wigan RD (Dalton, Parbold and Wrightington).

District B[edit]

Liverpool became a metropolitan district itself. Bootle was joined with Southport in Sefton. Kirkby, Huyton, Halewood, Tarbock and Knowsley became part of Knowsley, along with areas from District C. Hale went to Cheshire (Halton).

District C[edit]

St Helens was included with Haydock, Rainford, part of Billinge-and-Winstanley, part of Ashton-in-Makerfield and the parishes of Bold, Eccleston, Rainhill, Windle, in the Metropolitan District of St Helens.

The parishes of Whiston and Cronton, and the urban district of Prescot, were included in Knowsley.

Widnes/Runcorn became Halton district in Cheshire, along with parishes from Runcorn RD and Whiston RD.

District D[edit]

Birkenhead/Wallasey/Bebington/Hoylake/Wirral became Wirral MetB in Merseyside

Ellesmere Port and Neston were joined in a district in Cheshire.

Chester, Chester Rural District and Tarvin Rural District became together the Chester district.

Runcorn Rural District was split between Warrington, Halton and Vale Royal.
