LIST OF ADMIRALTY DEPARTMENTS

The Admiralty Departments originally known as Admiralty Offices were distinct and component parts of first the Admiralty and Marine Affairs Office then later Department of Admiralty that were superintended by the various offices of the Sea Lords responsible for them and were primarily administrative and logistical support bodies from 1320 to 1964.[1]

The Admiralty Departments were distinct and component parts of the Department of Admiralty that were superintended by the various offices of theSea Lords responsible for them and were primarily administrative and logistical support bodies. The departments role was to provide the men, ships, aircraft and supplies to carry out the approved policy of the Board of Admiralty and conveyed to them in the 20th century by the Admiralty Naval Staff. They existed from 1320 to 1964. In April 1964 the Department of Admiralty along with the Air Ministry and War Office are merged into the Ministry of Defence where it becomes the navy-department-mod some of these departments continued with the new Navy Department, whilst others were either renamed or abolished not long after the merger.
