User:Polaron/Greater Manila
The Greater Manila Area is the name of the urban agglomeration centered on Metro Manila. This area is socially and economically integrated with Metro Manila, serving as the functional metropolitan area. It encompasses parts of the four provinces adjacent to Metro Manila -- Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, and Cavite. The area has a total population of over 17 million (as of 2005) in area of approximately 3000 square kilometers.
The term "Greater Manila Area" is also applied to a wider region consisting of Metro Manila and the entirety of the four adjacent provinces. In this case, the term refers to the labor and media market of Metro Manila. The term "Mega Manila" is often used in this case as well.
