A neutrois is a specific type of androgynous person considering themselves to be neither male nor female. The primary difference between neutrois and other forms of androgynous or genderqueer individuals is the existence of gender dysphoria resulting in a desire to eliminate physical identifiers, such as breasts or visible crotch bulges.[1] Neutrois individuals may bind, tuck, or have surgery or hormone treatment in order to remove or reduce their physical sex identifiers.
Neutrois individuals may have been born biologically male or female, but they do not consider themselves to otherwise match the genders of male or female. Because they do not usually consider themselves to have a "correct" body and may have severe gender dysphoria relating to their bodies or upbringing, neutrois are sometimes considered to be transgender.
