Ziya’-un-Nabi or “Diya al-Nabi” Life of Prophet Muhammad, is a detailed biography of the holy Prophet (PBUH) entitled in seven volumes. Islamic scholar and Justice Muhammad Karam Shah al-Azhari is the author of this seven volumes book.[1][2]
About the author
[edit]He was a Sunni scholar specialized in the Hanafi fiqh, who served as a justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Other than, he also wrote famous exegesis of the holy Qur’an entitled Tafsir Zia ul Quran in Urdu language in five volume.[3] Ziya un Nabi is published into seven volumes by Ziya’ul-Qur’an Publications Lahore. The biography has been translated in to English by Justice (R) Dr. Munir Ahmad Mughal, Punjab University Law College; Superior Law College.[4]
Specialty
[edit]The book is appreciated in academic and religious circles due to its easiness and tone of narrating the life and character of Prophet. The author, Azhari, has reflected his love and affection towards Prophet of Islam in this seven volume biography. According to Muhammad Qayyum Awan (Translator of Ziya an Nabi). It reflect real and the most enchanting picture of the Noble Prophet, in all aspects of his life.[5]

[edit]According to Kitbun site [6] The volume 1 begins with an analysis of the religious, political, and social situation of various states and countries at that time. where as the biography from birth begins in volume 2, completes in Volume 4. The character, personality and qualities are explained in volume 5, whereas volumes 6 and 7 discuss views of non Muslims about Islam. These volumes also covers responses to the criticisms of Islam and Prophetic life.
Acceptance
[edit]Zia un nabi is widely accepted among scholars and masses.[1] Prof. Dr. Khalid Alvi says: “Zia’ al-Qur’an” and “Zia’ al-Nabi” remains a source of inspiration for the students of Qur’an and Seerah of the Prophet (PBUH)”. Dr. Mudassir Guallini, is of the view that this biography needs to translated into European languages.
