Hello, and welcome to my userpage!
I have a few medical problems right now, so my contribution levels may be sporadic. Please excuse any late replys.

Sit down, relax, and enjoy yourself.

As you've probably guessed by now, I'm The Halo, and this is my Userpage. Make yourself at home!

I was born in Southampton, UK, twenty-something years ago. Since then I've moved about the country a bit, coming to settle recently in the East Riding of Yorkshire, but this will only be temporary (fingers crossed).

My origins are varied, most of my blood being English, but a lot of it is also Scottish, Welsh, and Irish.

Language wise, I'm a native speaker of British English, and this is pretty much my only language, though I am currently learning Latvian, but I am still at a very, very, basic level.

I joined Wikipedia early August, 2005, though I forget exactly when. I made my first Wikipedia contribution on 11 August 2005.

Picture of the Day

Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin
Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin (1900–1979) was a British-born American astronomer and astrophysicist who proposed in her 1925 doctoral thesis that stars were composed primarily of hydrogen and helium. Her groundbreaking conclusion was initially rejected because it contradicted the scientific wisdom of the time, which held that there were no significant elemental differences between the Sun and Earth. Independent observations eventually proved she was correct. Her work on the nature of variable stars was foundational to modern astrophysics.Photograph credit: Science Service; restored by Adam Cuerden
