Haaa Haaa[edit]

The Surreal Barnstar
I have no idea who you are or what you are doing here, but I like your moves so far, and as such am offering you this barnstar. I believe it's the first I've given—never been one to be much for doodads and baubles, just not how I was raised I guess. Keep chipping in with your two cents when it makes sense to you, and tell the missus (she sounds like a peach) and the rest of the gang I said hi. If it's not too much trouble, toss back a couple swigs of Heineken for me and my lady next time y'all are shootin the breeze. Bigtimepeace | talk | contribs 04:50, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Chat comments[edit]

Hello,

Welcome to Wikipedia! You contributions are welcome. However, please keep in mind that Wikipedia is not a social network. As such, please try to keep your comments on topic instead of wondering off topic w/random adventures of "you and your wife".

Thank you, ThaddeusB (talk) 16:08, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Thaddeus, and how are you? I'm all good here - having a good day filled with ham sandwiches and home made lemonade. What you up to, captain? The thing is, when me and my wife got married, we made a commitment to make decisions together. She'd be furious if she knew I was here on the wikipedia, editing away without talking it through with her first. So, every now and again we sit down and have a good discussion about some of the issues that are up on this here encyclopedia. And y'know - she's a good girl with a lot of sense, and I value what she thinks. Sometimes we even get some friends over and have a chat about what's going on down-wiki! You couldn't believe some of the debates we've got into! My friend Artie's a bit of a .. well, let's just say we have some differences of opinion when it comes down to politics. Still, that's what they say - he who drops politics on the dinner table will have to sweep up all the crumbs of stale bread and smeared butter, as they say in these parts. Anyway, I don't reckon it'd be fair on the other people who are on this wiki without letting you guys know how I got the decision to change something on here - hence letting you know when my wife has had an influence in the decision. And believe me, once you've chased around after a load of pugs, you're going to want to tell your wiki-buddies about it.

Anyway, thanks for the message, and I'll try and not mention what we get up to unless it's part of the decision making process. If you could meet my wife, I'm sure you'd understand! See ya on the flip side, buddy! Hands of gorse, heart of steel (talk) 17:54, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm here to also ask you not to digress into discussions about your personal life. It's disruptive as it degrades the consensus process. If you want to talk about your wife and life then please keep those comments on your own pages, if at all. -- Banjeboi 18:26, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I really don't understand what you're talking about. How does it "degrade the consensus process"? In fact, I was just talking to my wife and neither of us could really work out what "degrading the consensus process" is? Please do correct us if we're wrong, but me and my wife (and Artie, for that matter) see Wikipedia as kind of a discussion - and it's through talking about things in this way that we come to some kind of consensus about the best way to represent things on the site. Sort of a cross between democracy and the socratic method of discussion (this is my wife's phrase - she's the philosopher in the family!). So our conclusion is that's its best to disclose when I've discussed something with my wife, and some information about the circumstances in which we came up with the response, as that may have some bearing on how people interpret our situation. Thanks for you message, see you around, Hands of gorse, heart of steel (talk) 19:16, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your wife and Artie can state their own opinions through their own accounts, per WP:Sock. Instead of discussing the subject at hand you seem to want to glibly add in needless digressions into your personal life. While that is fine on a blog or a social networking site that is unhelpful on an encyclopedia. Please keep discussion focussed on the subject and save your personal life commentary to your own pages, if they are needed here at all. -- Banjeboi 22:53, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Banjeboi, no need to make drama of this. He has his funny style of commenting, let's be it. --Cyclopiatalk 12:57, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Margo Kaufman[edit]

It is a shame that there is no article here on author Margo Kaufman. Perhaps she is not sufficiently notable for inclusion. I think it would be worth sounding out your wife on this one. Dolores Luxedo (talk) 14:48, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

concerned....[edit]

I'm concerned that you don't appear to have talked through this really important matter with Artie - I mean, I know you guys don't always sing from the same hymn sheet, but I was chatting to my cousin last night (well it was his morning, he's over in England still, doesn't seem that bothered by the cold weather, strange chap!) and he was talking about how well he feels his local council has performed lately - I mean, he didn't vote for them, and probably would have preferred 'the other side' got in, but he was smart enough to look at the opposing views, and see that sometimes they get results, they really do. So if you get the chance, maybe grab a small lunch (I'm thinking of having some calamari and salad, probably after a swim, because it's quite a hot sticky day down here - we're hoping for that cool southerly, although it probably won't appear today of all days!) and have a good chat with Artie. He's a good guy. Privatemusings (talk) 23:37, 20 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I note that you have commented on the first phase of Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Biographies of living people

As this RFC closes, there are two proposals being considered:

  1. Proposal to Close This RfC
  2. Alternate proposal to close this RFC: we don't need a whole new layer of bureaucracy

Your opinion on this is welcome. Okip 02:18, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

And Artie as well. ++Lar: t/c 17:03, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
