Found this picture from the Government of Colorado website and these pictures from Flickr.com: one, two, three, four

Would you please tell if copyright applies and then how to upload it correctly?

Also, how does one properly cite a government press release like this one

Thanks in advance Error roy (talk) 03:32, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! As for the first one, please give me a link to a page where the picture is included or look if you find a copyright notice. I guess it's free for use, but we have to look first. The Flickr ones all are NOT free as stated on the right lower corner of each page.
For citation simply use "ref-tags" <ref>[http://www.colorado.gov/cs/Satellite/GovRitter/GOVR/1230985756099 this one]</ref> and make sure the article you want to include it already has a references section. See WP:CITE or ask me if you have further questions. Have fun!----Avant-garde a clue-hexaChord2 03:47, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Help

Someone hacked my account and I've seen all what they did. Those are hoax article and they did 2 hoax article. Macy Garcia and Binibining Amazona. Their sources are empty hotlinks and I don't want to be filed a case by Gilda Olvidados. So I want to delete that article immediately. —Preceding unsigned comment added by GMA Divo (talkcontribs) 08:02, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As "unconstructive" as the particular edit I made to the Here documents page was, there was no need to revert it. Humor is how people stay awake while reading about such things as computer programming. Since the part that I edited was merely an example, it did no harm to the article itself and the subtle joke might have made someone laugh at some point in the future. If you'd like to explain to me how how changing the occupation of an example character (who happened to already be named Joe) from a programmer to a plumber would hinder someone's learning about here docs then please, share. The example is poorly written anyway... It has Joe first learning about the topic then being the "go-to guy" on the subject a line later. If you want to do something useful then fix the example but don't ruin other's fun simply because you lack the basic art of humor. Danman111111 (talk) 12:45, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! Which edit do ou mean? You may be right but let me take a look on it please. If you're talking about this on, ehm, is that really that important?----Avant-garde a clue-hexaChord2 17:44, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Listen

I thank you for the effort, and I know that reverting vandalism is hard work, but it doesn't justify stupidity. If you look at the warnings on that IP page, you will see that they all pertain to User:Rimush/Sandbox. I don't always sign in when I edit my Sandbox. I even posted a message at the top of my IP's talk page. You seem to have somehow missed it twice already. I'm writing this so that I don't get a ban on my IP. And one more thing: how in the world do you "vandalize" a Sandbox? The whole purpose of a Sandbox is to experiment with edits. Rimush (talk) 21:22, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for that. Me and others use a tool to find and revert vandalism and therefore we not even vist most talkpages. Additionally you've been warned before by another vandal fighter - what of course does not make the case better. ;-) I removed the warnings but I guess you'll be warned again when editing your Userspace as an anon IP.--Avant-garde a clue-hexaChord2 21:28, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

IP 125.

You need to be careful with that IP. They change blue linked categories to red linked ones like this. Of course they can't create the category, howver in this case the redlinked category already contained 24 articles so it was worthwhile creating but often they just make one or two. Buckethead

Hi, Hexachord! Thank you for your kind comments. Actually, I have seen some video of Buckethead, and I must confess, he is so bizarre (and so good) that I was absolutely entranced. Sophia Lamar

Thanks for the welcome!

I do have a question regarding the article for "Sophia Lamar" and whether or not it meets the criteria for notability under WP:BIO. It has no sources, reads like a glowing review, and might have been submitted/edited by the subject of the article (see the article's discussion page). I just don't think it meets the criteria of WP:BIO as specified for an entertainer. I tried asking for help on the IRC channel and got nowhere. Your thoughts? cswpride (talk) 13:39, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! The article exists for more than three years and is under the scope of several important wiki projects (see Talk:Sophia Lamar), what of course does not mean that there's no doubt about the notability of its subject. You can do several things: First you can include some template:fact tags, asking for reliable sources. Another step would be to nominate the article for deletion at WP:AFD and see what happens. Is there anybody willing to improve it or not? What will this anon IP do? It's your choice.--Avant-garde a clue-hexaChord2 16:51, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Phil Tadros

You think the Phil Tadros article didn't read like an advertisement to his business with external links and that he had notability? He's a local businessman. He's not even officially launched a campaign for congress. Just curious what made the article notable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.175.17.15 (talk) 21:47, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Need Help What to do?

Hello Dear Hexa,

In the past few days I been trying to update some stuff and put a make-up on some of the articles. I am not Good in Wikipedia and i am not sure how it works, I am trying my best and i have read some pages where it teaches us few step etc.

For example I don't know what to do, when someone changes the article in which I tried my best to make sure there is no confusion, and make sure the facts are there with proves/Sources/Links etc etc. Now can you please have a look at this article, Khalilullah Khalili, where i made some changes yesterday, and i tried to provide sources, now I was told its better to have a well known researched sources that can be easily accessible, for example a researched/documented website. So that's what i did. I am my self an Afghan, born in Afghanistan and came here not long ago. I guess that's personal, now What matters are the facts. Anyways I edited the article taking my time well, and provided accessible sources, and to make sure there is no confusion to where i get my main points/ from, I came up with references. Today it was changed by one of the users, named Tajik and the article which he wants on wikipedia, contradicts with few of the facts, creating further confusion.

So I don't know what to do? Should I such Rv back to yesterday's edition, or Should I just leave it as it is despite its greater confusion, another reason for people to ignore Wikipedia, simply because one person has taken over.

Please have a look at the article, it would be very appropriated. Thanks

Alishah85 (talk) 23:13, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would not just revert it as this will lead to an edit war that nobody wants or needs. You did the best thing, you started to talk. I'm no expert on Afghanistan and so may not help you much. You can contact the other author, Tajik and find a consensus with him. If this is not possible I would contact the involved wikipedia projects that left their templates on the article's talkpage - WP:WikiProject Afghanistan, WP:WikiProject Central Asia and WP:WikiProject Poetry which should have some experts on the topic who can find a way to solve the conflict.--Avant-garde a clue-hexaChord2 23:23, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Hexachord thanks for your advice. I did what you asked me to do so, but unfortunately the article is still being changed, and i have this difficulty dealing the same IP user names. what happens if we continue this so called "War edit" and i was wondering i did my best to explain and provided sources as you said which were required, but what happens when people continuously change the stuff which i have touched.

thanks for your kind advice

bye

Alishah85 (talk) 08:52, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! Well, it's not easy for me to see what's true and what's not as I'm no expert on the topic. Is there no help available from the involved WikiProjects? If nothing helps, you can file for Mediation. Avoid to violate WP:3RR or you might get blocked. If you see the anon IP violating this rule report it. Have fun!--Avant-garde a clue-hexaChord2 09:11, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello / question

Hello! I'm very new to Wikipedia, and have tried to find an answer to my question in the faq and other instructional pages, but am still unsure of how to proceed.

I added info to some pages for a band called the Smalls, only to have it removed by another user. In the history pages, this particular user (Delicious Carbuncle) shows a pattern of removing information. A third user (Strobilus) and I have both tried using the talk pages and are met with pedantic refusal to discuss the issue. I don't believe Delicious Carbuncle would agree to moderation, so I would like to have this user blocked from destroying these pages. If you could offer me any assistance or direction in this matter, I would appreciate it.

Thanks! Donnaredding (talk) 02:01, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! I don't see much edit warring here, nor do I see any discussion here. What's the matter?--Avant-garde a clue-hexaChord2 21:55, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh sorry! http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=The_Smalls_(album)&action=history and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Delicious_carbuncle (second from last at the bottom I think)

All of the albums pages are unilaterally removed without discussion. Donnaredding (talk) 02:00, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, now I understand the case. Well, there's only one thing you can try. Ask at WP:PUNK for help. Is the album really notable? Are there interviews, reviews etc. on the web available showing its notability? Maybe you can build a better article, showing the notability. Build it on your own pages or the project's sites, and then after getting it to a satisfying status move it back. How about that? Contact the other editor, Strobilus, to help you. Contact User:IllaZilla for WP:PUNK. Hope this helps! --Avant-garde a clue-hexaChord2 09:34, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Guns N'Roses songs

Hi. You put {{hoax}} tags on a lot of articles about unreleased Guns N'Roses songs. There seems to be plenty of evidence on the web that they exist, e.g. [1] and [2]. Whether they are notable is another matter, but {{hoax}} doesn't seem an appropriate tag. Did you have some particular reason for it? Regards, JohnCD (talk) 09:36, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, WP:GNR does not have them under its scope and at least one other author has doubted their existance in this form. Judge for yourself...--Avant-garde a clue-hexaChord2 21:52, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Anyway, they fail WP:NSONGS fairly comprehensively; I have PRODded most of them and left a note for WP:GNR (sorry, I thought I had left this note for you at the time, but I must have failed to click "Save" after doing "Preview"). Regards JohnCD (talk) 13:33, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I don't feel much like rescuing them right now. But why not open a proper AfD, one case for all of them? So nobody can say, they had been slaughtered in the dark?--Avant-garde a clue-hexaChord2 13:42, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you're probably right, and I have done as you suggest - the AfD is here. I hesitated because people tend to object on principle to mass AfDs: "We ought to consider these one at a time"; but these articles are more or less identical and separate AfDs would be a waste of space. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 16:04, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Already seen it, great work!--Avant-garde a clue-hexaChord2 16:09, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List of European Supercentenarians

What I did was remove three names beyond 30 (named 26, 27 and 28) in the list of "30 oldest European Supercentenarians". I'm sure they weren't supposed to be there, so your revert wasn't really helping. It's all moot by now though since it has all changed considerably since.
