Do Not Remove Warning Tags[edit]

Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please place {{hangon}} on the page and make your case on the article's talk page. Response to You Asking for Help[edit]

I'm sorry, but your article has been deleted. Wikipedia has certain guidelines about what kind of material we will and will not have encyclopedia articles about. The article you tried to put in here was pretty much nearly entirely advertising material, and it didn't really tell us why this person was especially notable in the scheme of things. If there's anything specific I can answer for you, feel free to write back here. I'll see it. If I'm not here, though, you can type -- on this page here -- the phrase {{helpme}} (with those brackets), and someone else will be happy to answer your questions. I'm not an administrator, but if you use the "helpme" phrase, an admin would be the one to respond. — Mike • 21:05, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone putup this photo on Pike Lake ohio?

I cant do it and i need help!

Is the image free (did you take it yourself)? You need to upload the image from your computer to Wikipedia to use it in an article. If the image is free, you can upload it to the Commons (upload) (you will need to set up an account there). The new version looks like a great stub (what we call very short articles that will eventually be expanded). Thanks for writing it up. I've added the IMDB source under a references heading. You may reference the current version of the article to get a good sense of what a act(or/ress) stub looks like. Please click the edit button to see the way the coding for bold works (three single quote marks) and other markup things. The link to IMDB is created in a special way. To create it write {{imdb|id=xxxxxxx}} replacing the xxxxxxx with the id number found in the url of the imdb page. If you have any questions please ask me on my talk page.—WAvegetarian(talk) 21:20, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikify / sourcing[edit]

Hi. I just saw your pages on Meera Simhan and Gianfranco L'Amore and... they're both messes. But, the good news is they can be fixed. Firstly, you need to make a references section for where you got the information from. It almost looks like a copy and paste job from IMDb... which would be a copyright violations... you can summarize and source but you cannot copy. You also need to format it as we do most actor / actress pages. Take Peter Lorre as an example page for how we typically format. If you have any questions just ask on my talk page. Thanks. gren グレン 11:49, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ferdinand[edit]

The two tags that I added were wikify (the article needs to have proper links added as to link to appropriate cross references) and that it is stub, hence not complete. This only signifies that works still needs to be done on the article and does not denote the need for deletion or other such. When members add tags to articles, it is to signify other members to aid in the entry to make each entry the best it can. I hope this helps. -- Jon Talk | Message.

Hi. I did notice that your original contribution to this article was not a word-for-word copy of the Ohio History Central article. However, changing a few words is still plagiarism and a copyright violation by any reasonable measure. Using your own words does not mean you should take somebody else's work and swap out words for synonyms. It means you should write the text yourself. To answer your other question, copyright violations less than 48 hours old are eligible for speedy deletion (criteria A8). You've been warned about copyright violations before. If you continue to ignore these requests, do not be surprised if you find yourself blocked. - EurekaLott 03:32, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello![edit]

Im confused...Ok here is my problem. I think that the photo that shows the skyline of Dayton, Ohio really stinks. Well I live in the Dayton Area myself and is planning on taking better photos of Downtown. Once I do that how will and can I replace the current photo and how will I get in on to the public domain?... Like my user page....lol?!

Once you take the picture, you will need to upload the picture. If you wish to release your photo under the public domain, upload it to Commons. Then, go to the talk page and discuss changing the picture.--Werdan7T @ 21:36, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for Image:Mark Twain Logo.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Mark Twain Logo.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Yes, I am a Daytonian, but I don't get over to Miamisburg very often. If I find myself in the area I'll try to remember to take your picture, but I wouldn't count on it any time soon. If you live in Miamisburg, why don't you take the picture yourself? I've also been thinking about snapping one of the Victoria Theatre.

Newt Gingrich would be a great president, but I think he faces too much of a negative image to win. I also like Mit Romney and Rudy Giuliani and feel they're more electable. Don't forget to sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~). Hoof Hearted 20:12, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help Request {{tl|helpme}}[edit]

I uploaded the recent Dayton Photo above as the logo..And it says is up for speedy deletion. I got permission from the Dayton CVB workers and they sayed that the photos are for public use. But if you want high-quality photos you would need to make an account. Once you have done that then you may do what ever you want. I also called them to see if I was allowed to put their photos on Wikipedia. They sayed yes..and for proof the sayed put "For Wikipedia" under the company bar when you make an account. So I did and I proved it to them. I really dont want that photo gone because I have permisson to use it... Can someone help...Im really confused :O !!!!!

My Image of the Dayton Skyline was deleted even though I had permisson to use it. Is their a way I can reload it and still get it from not being deleted? Do I need to put in public domain next time? A use a copyright tag also?

E-mail permissions at wikipedia dot org first to gain permission to upload the picture as well as the link where you retrieved the image from, as well as the copyright tag. They should assist you from that point. Real96 12:31, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Commercial use of Image:Schuster.jpg[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Schuster.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Schuster.jpg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Schuster.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Back 2 Da Napps[edit]

The article Back 2 Da Napps has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Orphaned non-free image (Image:Saaphyri.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Saaphyri.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 21:36, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tech Town & Ballpark Village[edit]

Hey Again,

Recently I created Tech Town and Dayton Ballpark Village for the Dayton Area on Wikipedia....and I need your help. They pages are very small because I am having a hard time searching for main facts on both of the places. On google and roadrunner they are all scattered everywhere and I wanted to know if you could help me "update" or try to make the pages a tad bit better...mybe photos but I just wanted to know if you would be interested because I know you do lots with the Dayton Area and such...

Thanks Again!!! MarkDonna 02:31, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mark, I think the reason you're having trouble finding information on these places is that they are only marginally notable. Please read Wikipedia:Notability for guidelines on what would be considered appropriate for subject articles. I think you've written just about all you can about Tech Town. Until buildings start going up and people start moving in, there isn't a lot to discuss except for promotional, spam-sounding highlights. I'd really hesitate to write about the Dayton Ballpark Village since at this point it's only a proposal which could be rejected at the end of this month. My recommendation is to give these projects some time, wait for secondary sources to publish reviews and information, then edit the articles accordingly. Hoof Hearted 12:53, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure that you are the copyright holder for this image? If not, I do not see any information on the linked website to demonstrate that it is public domain. If you are, could you please upload it under a different title. It is interfering with a commons image. Savidan 04:25, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I moved it to Image:Schustercenter.jpg but would be appreciative if you could clarify the copyright situation. Savidan 17:02, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Could you link me to the release on their website? And, if that it the case, it does not follow that you can take ownership of it; you should change it to the appropriate image tag. Savidan 23:20, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:MBURGMAP.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MBURGMAP.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 19:10, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Duplicate images uploaded[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MiamisburgHighAerial.JPG. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:MiamisburgAerialHigh.JPG. The copy called Image:MiamisburgAerialHigh.JPG has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Nadia Dina Ariqat[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Nadia Dina Ariqat, because another editor is suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of the page.

Unspecified source for Image:MiamisburgLogo.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MiamisburgLogo.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Re: John McCain's home state[edit]

Usually when a candidate's home state is mentioned, the home state refers to their current state of residency rather than their state of birth. Sen. McCain was born in the Canal Zone, but since he is the Senator from Arizona, his home state is referred to as such. Another example: in 2000, although George W. Bush was born in Connecticut, most referred to his home state as Texas, since he was Governor of that state at the time. This is still a good question, and you had some good insight. --Supertrouperdc (talk) 01:41, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Ohio Newsletter[edit]

Issue II - May 2008
From the editor:

Here's Issue II of the project newsletter. We're trying to decide if this is sinking or floating. If you would like to contribute to next month's newsletter please jump right in at the News Desk! Have a great May.

The Ohio Portal

The maintainers of the Ohio Portal are looking to get it to featured status. They would like to ask all project members to help improve it any way they can. What needs to be done most is the supplying of selected articles and images.

Selected Article: Indian Head Rock

There is a eight ton rock in Ohio that was removed from the Ohio River. This rock is known as the Indian Head Rock Dating back to the early 1800’s, this rock was seen sticking out of the Ohio River and used as a navigational mark for barges along the river. The names of citizens from the town of Portsmouth, Ohio are carved into the rock from the late nineteenth a early twentieth centuries. Some of the names were of well known families from Ohio. They would swim out to the rock, have their picture taken with it or simply carve their names into it.
With the advent of the Locks and Dams along the Ohio River, the rock eventually was submerged, but the legend lived on. A gentleman from Ironton, Ohio located the rock after searching a very long time for it, and he and a crew of scuba divers recovered the rock and took it to the shore to be donated to Ohio for historical value.
After hearing the news about the rock being removed, Kentucky introduced legislation against the removal of the rock. They also want the diver who found it to be prosecuted for removing the rock. Kentucky owns the greatest part of the land the river runs on. Even the Army Corp. of Engineers got involved as to how to move the rock without damaging it. Kentucky wants to have it returned to the river.

The WikiProject Ohio Newsletter

Issue III - June 2008
From the editor:

This is the third edition of the WikiProject Ohio newsletter. If you have any project announcements feel free to drop them by the NewsDesk. It's request that you watchlist our talk page; so you can chime in on current discussions. Have a great June!

The Ohio Portal

The maintainers of the Ohio Portal are looking to get it to featured status. They would like to ask all project members to help improve it any way they can. What needs to be done most is the supplying of selected articles and images.

Getting the Project Moving
  • WikiProject Ohio as an entity doesn't have as much action as other state projects. For this reason it has been proposed that the inactive WikiProject Ohio Townships be added as our taskforce. There is a !poll going on at WT:OH and your opinion is essential in the matter!
  • Stepshep has also proposed sending an invite to everyone in Category:Wikipedians in Ohio with an invite to join the project. If you are already a member you would not receive the notice of course. Once again, please note your opinion on the project talkpage.

The Central Avenue Historic District is a nationally recognized historic district located at 201 to 338 Central Avenue in Dayton, Ohio. It consists of late 19th and 20th Century Revival-style houses as well as late Victorian-style houses, which were all originally single-family residences.

On December 16, 1982, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Each month a new Ohio related stub is the selected article. If you have a new stub created feel free to nominate it at the NewsDesk.

License tagging for File:Abandoned Germantown.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Abandoned Germantown.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 17:05, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly unfree File:2008 Mirus.jpg[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:2008 Mirus.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. --Skier Dude (talk) 05:36, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article America's Packard Museum has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hallway of Reading High School.JPG[edit]

Hi. I'm an assistant language teacher in Japan. Over the past seven months I've been making a visual novel type game to help my students with English. To aid this, I have used one of your pictures that you have kindly made available under a Creative Commons licence. I just wanted to thank you personally for making the resource available. If you want to play the game, though please bear in mind a lot of it is in Japanese, it can be downloaded online (I won't put the link up as it might count as spam, but let me know if you want it and I'll pop it up). Thank you very much — Preceding unsigned comment added by Watashinotabi (talkcontribs) 00:10, 8 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Green Party of Ohio requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Notice

The article Pipestone Golf Course has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Totally ordinary municipal golf club, this article has no independent sources.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. File permission problem with File:Mirus 1991.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Mirus 1991.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 01:35, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
