"Closing" discussions

[edit]

Just a hint, but you might want to stop unilaterally closing discussions. For one thing, you're doing it incorrectly (use {{Archive top}} and {{Archive bottom}} instead of striking through the title), and for another thing, it's not really necessary. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 14:46, 17 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for pointing this out, I didn't know that. I will keep it in mind, now. -Λίνουξ (talk) 18:56, 17 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

108.51.173.37

[edit]

Hi there, I know it is frustrating that the IP editor keeps blanking their talk page instead of responding to the community, but they are allowed to blank the page. The only thing they cannot remove are active sanctions. If we keep restoring their talk page warnings, that's only going to irritate them and us. The best thing to do is just wait. They will no doubt wind up blocked, and if they blank the block notice, they can have their talk page access revoked. Save yourself a headache! I've had ample experience dealing with vandals and trolls and if you let them know you're bothered, that only motivates them to bother you further. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:47, 19 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, that's very kind, I will remember it when facing trolls. -Λίνουξ (talk) 17:35, 19 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I too have also dealt with this IP editor before, especially on the List of Sailor Moon Crystal episodes article. FWIW, I reported the IP editor at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/108.51.173.37 for suspected sock puppetry. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 04:40, 22 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your username

[edit]

Hmm... your username is different but I don't know how to say it. Is that your username is good on Wikipedia? --Allen talk 02:21, 5 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Allen. My username, Λίνουξ, is a transliteration of Linux in Modern Greek. I chose it because I was unsure about what name to use, so I picked the first thing that came to my mind. Is there something wrong about it? -Λίνουξ (talk) 07:46, 5 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Your username is good on Wikipedia with Greek words, so I love that name. :) --Allen talk 21:55, 20 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, thanks! :) -Λίνουξ (talk) 07:41, 21 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Episode summaries on Doctor Who (series 8)

[edit]

Actually, those summaries were different from the official summaries. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 14:11, 19 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

They were? I'm really sorry, I assumed they were copied from en external site or just based on rumours, because there was no citation. -Λίνουξ (talk) 17:00, 19 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, the hidden copyvio notice in the short summary place is a good idea. Good thinking. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 18:44, 19 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. :D -Λίνουξ (talk) 19:57, 19 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hasan or Khasan?

[edit]

PAOK FC is indeed full of WP:OR, but aside from that, do you find "Hasan" more appropriate than "Khasan"? It used to be "Xasan" before our edits, which I think misses the point. Note that the H sound in many languages, including Greek and Russian, transliterates as Kh. Since the article is mostly unsourced, it is hard to assume anything correctly. Also, should the "s" be "ss" (ie Hassan/Khassan)? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Λίνουξ (talkcontribs) 17:42, 11 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. Especially when the surname is Köprülü. Hasan Köprülü is a common Turkish name. Regards. --Why should I have a User Name? (talk) 18:00, 11 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Really? Was it spelt using an alphabet that was not yet in existence when he was a founding member in 1926. All the names will be transliterations into English of names that would have been written down using the Greek alphabet. There should not be transliterations into modern Turkish. Tiptoethrutheminefield (talk) 21:29, 11 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Why should I have a User Name? likes going around "Turkifying" things, as well as deleting anything (names, content, even whole articles if he can get away with it) that he thinks blackens the blemish-free name of his bwestest fwend Turkey. Is it worth wasting all our time to start a RfC on this spelling to get rid of Why should I have a User Name's edit. Tiptoethrutheminefield (talk) 02:23, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on The Filaments (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. JbhTalk 17:45, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Mark WikiProject Linux as inactive?

[edit]

Hi! I was directed to your talk page by the participants list on WikiProject Linux. I've started a discussion whether we can keep it running, or mark it as inactive.– Abuluntu ( talk 05:46, 28 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Σούπερμαν. Over at WikiProject My Little Pony we're trying to compile a list of active participants. Your name, along with all other project participants, has been placed on the inactive list. If you'd like to get involved again, please place your name back on the active list, and take a look at the project talk page for the latest happenings.
