Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

Someone using this IP address, 118.46.55.151, has made edits to Gazelle that do not conform to our policies and therefore have been reverted. For more information on this, see Wikipedia's policies on vandalism and limits on acceptable additions. If you'd like to experiment with the syntax, please do so in the sandbox rather than in articles. If you did not do this, you may wish to consider getting a username to avoid confusion with other editors.

You don't have to log in to read or edit pages on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free, requires no personal information, and has many benefits. Without a username, your IP address is used to identify you.

Some good links for newcomers are:

Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and a timestamp. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask the Help Desk, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

Again, welcome! Tosi | he/him | t/c 16:19, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Everedux. I noticed that in this edit to Glyptodon, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Everedux (talk) 00:44, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Hi, much the same comment as above - you changed the excellent image of a wild chimpanzee for an obvious zoo specimen, against consensus, without discussion, and without so much as an apology for an edit comment (again, as you have been told formally above). That is not how we all hope to work here, leaving aside the matter of mandatory policies. I appreciate you are fairly new here but it would really be helpful to begin to fit in with these basic steps. Many thanks for your understanding. Edit summaries

[edit]

Hi there. From what I can see at a quick read, you have been improving the List of Indigenous peoples article by removing unnecessary over-linking, so thank you for your efforts. However, your lack of edit summaries makes it hard for other editors to assess and review your changes, so would you please read WP:ES and ensure that you add an edit summary each time you make a change? Thanks. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 22:37, 7 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your edits to Common bottlenose dolphin, please use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history, as well as helping prevent edit conflicts. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the article will look like without actually saving it.

The "show preview" button is right next to the "publish changes" button and below the edit summary field.

It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you. Tdc42 (talk) 03:46, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to Rüppell's vulture does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to Saiga antelope, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary.
