Hi. Please stop adding trivial sub-genre's to album/song page's, based on your own perspective. Wikipedia requires users to only use reliable sources, and does not permit original research. Thank you. --Blastmaster11 (talk) 23:34, 6 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

May 2016[edit]

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did to Niggaz4Life. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Dr. K. 02:40, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

My account. I have done nothing wrong. My edits under route 97.104.210.47 have been socially approved by the majority of wikipedians -- more +s than anything else.. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Penicillin_on_Wax&action=history https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Niggaz4Life&action=history https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Love_Child_(Sweet_Sensation_album)&action=history

I believe I've been wrongly blocked. No one has complained about my stuff, except for one mod.

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to change genres without discussion or sources, you may be blocked from editing. - SummerPhDv2.0 03:37, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Just saw the block. Please understand this is not about your intentions. Wikipedia has an ongoing problem with genre warring -- editors making large numbers of unsourced and undiscussed changes of and additions to genres in various articles based entirely on their opinions. In addition to violating our guiding principle that material must be verifiable, it turns articles into unstable battlegrounds as editors repeatedly and frequently add/subtract/change genres to their "correct" version against everyone else's "incorrect" versions.
After your block expires, please slow down and look for reliable sources discussing the genres that apply for various songs, albums and artists. Thanks. - SummerPhDv2.0 03:48, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Note: fixed mismatched brackets. This way, 97.104.210.47 can read the wikilinked page. Rotideypoc41352 (talk) 03:57, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

OK then how come, most of my stuff was liked (hence all the pluses), and yet the mods, with all due respect, their removals of my stuff was thumbed down? No one was complaining about my edits or even made it an issue until that one person did that. I'm not getting this. I'm sorry

With all due respect, sir, no edit war was caused. There's only an edit war cause they're looking for one, with all due respect to them. No one complained about my edits, cause I have a whole bunch of pluses, except for those 2 or 3 people. Some of my edits got as much as 118+. So I'm sorry. But I don't get why I got this block. 97.104.210.47 (talk) 03:51, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Liked, thumbs up? Wikipedia has none of these features. Wikipedia content is not set by popularity. Wikipedia uses wp:reliable sources (please read! Thank you) Cheers

I mean the pluses and negatives that come up (that mean your stuff was liked or disliked), next to the edits Like this for example: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Niggaz4Life&action=history Jim1138 (talk) 04:05, 7 May 2016 (UTC) (look at the revision edits -- and next to it you'll see pluses and negatives next to numbers -- pluses meaning your stuff was liked, negative meaning it was disliked) That's why I don't understand this ban. No one complained about them.[reply]

(Stalking) I think you mean the 'bytes' that the page has. This has nothing to do with likes/dislikes. This merely describes how big or small the page is. The numbers that you are referencing are how big or small of a change that you have made to an article with any given edit. 2601:1C0:4901:2191:E5A8:C404:EA64:C7EF (talk) 04:11, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The point here is that in order to maintain some sense of stability in the project and build a meaningful collection of reliably sourced information (as opposed to a random collection of opinions) we have (in descending order) core policies, policies, guidelines and essays intended to unify the project and limit chaos.
The edits we're discussing here are an extensive string of rapid-fire additions of opinions with (in many cases) "difficult" edit summaries. If we took the "hands off" that you seem to be advocating for your edits, we would have to take a similar approach to others' edits in response. Your edit summaries make it clear you feel strongly about many of these. Other editors with different opinions feel equally strongly.
I'm also seeing a battleground approach on your part "Make me stop doing; I'm doing it by definition, pal. You don't like it? TOO BAD."[1] Well, yes, you've been stopped. IMO, you're going to have to sit this one out. (Not that it's my call.) - SummerPhDv2.0 04:21, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you change genre in pages without discussion or sources, as you did at 100 Miles and Runnin'. Please discuss genres on the articles' talk pages and establish a consensus BEFORE making changes. SummerPhDv2.0 03:15, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

OK, with all due respect, this is stupid. How the heck are my edits not right. How is Ice-T not East Coast rap for instance, considering "New Jack Hustler" and many of this songs with Donald D are East Coast rap songs. And many of the songs on NWA's albums are comedy songs

And considering that Tim Dog does rap the criminal life he is gangsta rap too.

You will need to either cite independent reliable sources for your changes or discuss the issue on the article talk pages to establish a consensus for each change. - SummerPhDv2.0 04:00, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse me, you said you'd only block me without warning if I did it again -- I didn't do it again, after this warning, so why am I blocked?

Final warning @ 23:15, 11 May 2016;
Unsourced, undiscussed genre changes on 23 articles in the 30 minutes after that. - SummerPhDv2.0 11:57, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Well excuse me, but I didn't get a warning on the messages thing, so I wasn't to look at this. I only look at this if I get a warning first on the message board. You should have sent me one.

The "warning on the messages thing" ("You have new messages") is automatically generated when anyone other than you edits your talk page. Additionally, you should see an indicator when anyone reverts an edit you made, as happened repeatedly during your flurry of edits. Also, if you are about to make a change to an article and think you have made the same change earlier, it is worth checking the page's history to see why it was reverted; many of the edits I reverted were changes you had been warned about previously. Finally, as virtually all of your edits leading up to both blocks were unsourced/undiscussed changes to genres, you will want to review WP:GWAR during your block to avoid the same problems in the future. If there is anything you aren't sure you understand or would like some help with, just ask. In the end, you'll find that most of us are here to help the project in whatever ways we can. - SummerPhDv2.0 21:41, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. Some of your recent genre changes, such as the one you made to Apache Ain't Shit, have conflicted with our neutral point of view and verifiability policies. While we invite all users to contribute constructively to Wikipedia, we urge all editors to provide reliable sources for edits made. When others disagree, we recommend you seek consensus for certain edits by discussing the matter on the article's talk page. Thank you. Robvanvee 11:11, 20 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
