Image Tagging Image:Bajekan Dhingsara 1.gif
[edit]This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Bajekan Dhingsara 1.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. SteinbDJ 19:06, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
Image:Brig.Hari Singh at Barkee Capture.jpg
[edit]Hello, thank you for uploading Image:Brig.Hari Singh at Barkee Capture.jpg and attaching it to the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 article. However, the image in its current state is impermissible in Wikipedia since it does not specify an image licensing tag. Since the image is that of your maternal grandfather, I am assuming that you own licensing rights, if any, to the image. Please clarify the licensing of the image as soon as possible. You may want to release the image to public domain by adding a {{PD-self}} tag to the image in question. If you have any questions regarding licensing tags for images, please leave me a message or consult Wikipedia:Image copyright tags. Thanks AreJay 17:36, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
- Excellent, Abhinay! Thank you for releasing the above image to public domain. With your valuable input, I am sure the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 article will be well on its way to becoming a Featured Article on Wikipedia someday. Thanks. AreJay 18:37, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for uploading those images Abhinay. Much appreciated! AreJay 23:44, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

Brig. Hari Singh
[edit]Regarding your article at Hari Singh (soldier) it is not clear to me why he is notable. Is he famous for anything other than reaching the rank of Brigadier in the Indian Army? DJ Clayworth 18:37, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
Hi Clayworth,
Regarding the article of Brig. Hari Singh; This article was created as Brig. Hari Singh played a vital role in Indo_Pakistani War of 1965. In that article, there are pictures taken by him during the war when he was in command of 18th Cavalry of Indian Army. He was there during the time of Barkee and Ichhogil Canal capture near Lahore in Pakistan. This article was created to cite from the Indo-Pak War Article. He fought all the major wars for India and was awarded A.V.S.M (ATI VISHISHT SEVA MEDAL, an honour for a distinguished service of the exceptional order in Indian Army) for his gallentry in Bangladesh operation. This article was thus very important for citation from other articles. Please look into this matter.
Looking forward for your help... Thanks and Regards - Abhinay
- You say he played a vital role in this war, yet it is not clear from either the article about him or the article on Indo_Pakistani War of 1965 what role that was? The only reference to him in the article is in the caption of several photos he took. The article about him says only that he commanded the 18th Cavalry, with no indication of what the 18th Cavalry did. DJ Clayworth 19:33, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
File copyright problem with File:Ichhogil Canal (1965 Indo-Pak War) .jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Ichhogil Canal (1965 Indo-Pak War) .jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Radiant chains (talk) 10:54, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:BrigHariSingh18Cav.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:BrigHariSingh18Cav.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MBisanz talk 01:20, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
File source problem with File:18th Cavalry.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:18th Cavalry.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Cloudbound (talk) 00:29, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Hari Singh (soldier)
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Hari Singh (soldier), requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. (See section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Wikipedia has standards for the minimum necessary information to be included in short articles; you can see these at Wikipedia:Stub. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
- It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
- It appears to be about something made up, and it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.)
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Speedy deletion nomination of 1965 Indo-Pak War DestroyedShermanTank.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on 1965 Indo-Pak War DestroyedShermanTank.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
