Just to let you know... I've left a note on WP:ANI about the stub tag activity. You may want to contribute. Me Three (talk to me) 18:55, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Thank you Me Three. I support the block that User:Tanthalas39 imposed as a result of your posting. He was out of control. I was at the end of my rope with him. If you add anything to my evidence page, please create a new section. Again, Thank you. Acps110 (talk) 03:24, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
You're welcome. I had, by the way, added stuff to your evidence page, but grouped it in the appropriate section, in case admins wanted to look at it (which they didn't need to). You can see them in the diffs. Me Three (talk to me) 04:43, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
I did see that you had added previous to the ANI post. No problem with that! I asked you to. :-) I meant, if you add anything after the ANI post, please separate it. It seems at this point that it won't be necessary, but I'm not removing that page for at least a couple of years! Acps110 (talk) 04:50, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Templated services / Google Earth

Regarding your edits where you "replace templated services in lead to allow them to display in Google Earth": Just curious -- what exactly does this do? I'm guessing there must be some sort of plug-in on Google Earth that pulls information from Wikipedia and can't process the template, but I don't quite understand it. Please understand I'm not challenging the change, just trying to better understand it, and understand when and where the templates may still be used. Thanks! Me Three (talk to me) 13:45, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Any station article that has coordinates automatically shows up on Google Earth if the Wikipedia source is checked in the "Geographic web" section. This is part of the standard installation of Google Earth. The pop-up balloon only shows the lead section of the article with very simple rendering. It can only display text, images and links. Templates and any other stuff is not shown. For example "Canal Street is served by the , , and trains at all times." Not very pleasant or useful. It seems silly to use a template to display a single letter or number. That can be fixed simply by using the pipe trick. Hope this helps. Acps110 (talk) 20:12, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
I understand. I wouldn't say, in general, that using a template to display one letter or number is silly, though. I think the templates were created (1) for ease of typing (it's sure easier to type the template than the whole link, even with the pipe trick!). Plus, I'll bet that, at some time or another, the thought of showing colored bullets with the templates was entertained. Either way, I see what Google Earth is doing, and "served by the , , and trains" is, indeed, useless. Me Three (talk to me) 20:39, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
Unfortunately, I found out that Google Earth only updates from a database dump approx. once a month. It may take several months for these changes to show up, depending on when the last update was done. I was hoping to do some in lower Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn as a test to make sure they worked correctly before doing the rest. I may bring it up on the NYCS Wikiproject page. Take a look at this diff. What do you think? Should we seek admin intervention, or just leave it alone? I thought there was a policy somewhere that said a blocked user may only use his talk page to contest a block (can't find it though). Now it seems he's happy to just wants to use the page as his own sandbox. In one sense, I think we can just let him play in his little corner of Wikipedia and not bother anyone, but there are also rules that should be followed. Me Three (talk to me) 14:19, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

I think we should just ignore that post. I busted him the other day for sockpuppeting, (JS SPI) so he's back to his original account. He's still seeking attention. The less we give him, the better. Acps110 (talk) 15:02, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
No argument here. I saw that Sock Puppet investigation, and found it peculiar that he used an IP from John Jay College in Manhattan. From his user page (listing NY as a "near future" home and San Fransisco is a "future" home) and limited discussions, I could've sworn he was still in Russia somewhere. I really should just remove his page from my watchlist and forget about the guy, but like a bad movie, I can't quite look away! Me Three (talk to me) 16:02, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
LOL!!!! That's partly why I requested CheckUser. I couldn't figure out if he was hiding behind a facade of not knowing English or what. Because CheckUser WASN'T used, I'm still not sure if that IP really is a sock of Jimmy. Because of the amount of damage he cause to the NYCS wikiproject, I'm going to leave him on my watchlist for some time to come. Then I can see if some admin decides to unblock. (shudder at that thought) Acps110 (talk) 16:14, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
