Speedy deletion nomination of Depaul University Department of Management
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Depaul University Department of Management requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Theopolisme 20:51, 13 September 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw how you edited or created Depaul University Department of Management, and I noticed that the username you have chosen, "Mgmtdepaul", seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of something other than yourself. Please note that you may not edit on behalf of a company, group, institution, or website, and Wikipedia does not allow usernames that are promotional or have the appearance of shared use. Please take a moment to create a new account or request a username change that represents only yourself as an individual. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and remember that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Dori ☾Talk ☯ Contribs☽ 20:52, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
Wikipedia is not for organizations to write about themselves
[edit]Wikipedia is not a place for people or organizations to write about themselves, and it is extremely resistant to being used for any kind of promotion. What you were writing was not an encyclopedia article, it was evidently going to be more like a prospectus, with promotional language like "wide variety of courses... internationally recognized... award-winning... " and a level of detail more suitable for potential students than for the general encyclopedia reader, and so more suitable for your own website than for Wikipedia.
I am sorry that Wikipedia does not do a good job of explaining in advance that it is an encyclopedia, not a free notice-board for promotional literature; I have this conversation so often that I have written User:JohnCD/Not a noticeboard to explain some of the issues.
Before editing again, please visit WP:CHU to request a new username which will represent only you as an individual, personally responsible for your account's edits - a username which implies that you are editing as a representative of an organization is not acceptable. Please also read:
- Wikipedia:Conflict of interest - even with an individual username, you should not be writing about your own department
- Wikipedia:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest
- Wikipedia:Notability - subjects for articles need to show notability by references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." See also WP:42 and WP:CORP. Experience shows that individual schools and departments within a university are not often able to do this, and are better covered by a mention in the main University article. See Wikipedia:College and university article guidelines, especially the section Faculties and academic colleges.

Your attention needed at WP:CHU
[edit]Hello. A bureaucrat or clerk has responded to your username change request, but requires clarification before moving forward. Please follow up at your username change request entry as soon as possible. Thank you. NTox · talk 02:17, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).
A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.
You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:
- Adding
{{unblock-un|your new username here}}
on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page. - At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
- Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
- Adding
{{unblock|Your reason here}}
, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Daniel Case (talk) 04:07, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
