Fay-Cooper Cole
Bassplr19 (talk) 15:47, 2 January 2009 (UTC) You deleted this page Fay-Cooper Cole because it didn't meet notability guidelines even though the guy is notable enough to be in the gold standard of encyclopedias (Britannica)? http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/125158/Fay-Cooper-Cole - Maybe it should just be a stub, but it is relevant and notable.
- OK. Reconsidered. Read the Britannica link. Article restored. -- Alexf(talk) 16:34, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
Deletion Review for Rick Mofina.
Hello, I had just started an article on the author Rick Mofina, and it was speedily deleted. I am sure he should meet the guidelines for inclusion as he has already had 8 novels published and has another due out soon. He has twice won an Arthur Ellis Awards for his writing. This clearly establishes notabliliy. Ironically the reason my article was so short was that I was getting information from various sources so as not to upset the copyright requirements of other sources. Can you please restore this article and I will be adding more to it in the next few days. ( I do not have any personal or commercial connection with this author, merely like his work.) Thanks. Denis. --Dmol (talk) 22:17, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- The article as-is cannot stand as it had no references whatsoever. There was only one sentence, which was restored to your userspace at User:Dmol/RickMofina for you to work on. Good luck. -- Alexf(talk) 01:05, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
Uncontroversial page move
Hi mate, could you move Mariano Enrique Seccafien over Mariano Seccafien, they were both created by the same editor. I came across the longer title first, but there is no need for middle name disambiguation. Cheers. King of the North East 21:40, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
- Done. -- Alexf(talk) 23:06, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
Horizon software
Hello Alex, Could you tell me why my page was considered G11: blatant advertising, while this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orc_Software is not considered as G11 ? Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by GregoryCouratier (talk • contribs) 20:35, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- Because your page was a case for G11 and the other one was not known. It is now; thanks for the info. Please consider that every page has to live or die on its own. Just because other page does it is not a reason. -- Alexf(talk) 23:28, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Hello, same for http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SunGard : why is it not qualified as G11 ?
Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by GregoryCouratier (talk • contribs) 15:44, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- Gregory, if you consider an article not up to standards or not notable enough, or violating any other regulation, please feel free to tag it yourself for either CSD, PROD or AfD, whatever the case may be. Also please remember to sign your posts with four tildes at the end. Thanks. -- Alexf(talk) 18:01, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
WVOX
Why was WVOX deleted (with the talk page/logs), when there doesn't seem to be any duplication (reason was "Wrong title - duplicate article")? Pages point to it, and now it's gone. It's not my page or anything--I'm just a Wikipedia user who finds such things frustrating about this site. 68.83.72.162 (talk) 02:00, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- The tag for speedy deletion read: "the content of this page already exists at WVOS (AM), which is the correct name for this article, so there is nothing to merge from this page. This article was created just after the other, but at the incorrect name". -- Alexf(talk) 02:44, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Deletion review for House clean
An editor has asked for a deletion review of House clean. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedy-deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Chuck (talk) 04:31, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- As of this moment, there is no such deletion review page yet for me to comment on, so I'll do it here. It was a speedy deletion as R3. It was only a redirect from "House clean" to "House work" which is indeed a typo or misnomer in a redirect. I doubt somebody would type house clean (which is bad English BTW as it would be more appropriately house cleaning) to mean house work. -- Alexf(talk) 12:38, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry to butt in, but this actually arose because of an article being created, redirected, and tagged as an implausible typo by three separate users. I've posted a longer message at the DRV; you might want to drop by. Stifle (talk) 14:10, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- Just did. Thanks for the heads up. -- Alexf(talk) 17:06, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

An AIV question
Hi, Alexf. Thanks for placing the block on User talk:205.125.19.88 and tagging User talk:205.125.19.14 yesterday. It makes my time on WP easier and more productive -- at least, for a couple of weeks. My question is how this occurred. I placed an AIV report two days ago on these IPs. The report was dismiissed a few minutes later because the IPs weren't online at that moment. I felt this response was a mistake considering the persistent nature of the vandalism and the recent block on the one IP. But I decided to wait and file another report when the vandalism would continue the next day -- which I am certain it would. However, you intervened with a prescient block. How did you determine on placing this block? And was my original report faulty in some way? I am really just trying to get a grasp on the procedures at AIV. Cheers. — CactusWriter | needles 10:43, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- I simply considered the blocked IP needed to get a cool-off period from vandalism (had been blocked a few times before and had enough warnings). The other IP from the same school was not tagged as a school IP and had not had enough vandalism and warnings. Admins carefully consider that many IP addresses are shared by different users when considering a block. Also the warnings have to be very recent for the same reason. School IPs are generally treated with less leniency as they are particularly bothersome (unfortunately they do not seem to be giving their kids any ethics classes). You have the IP reversed in your message BTW. -- Alexf(talk) 12:38, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- Okay. Thanks. — CactusWriter | needles 07:16, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
thanks for deleting my mistaken post
Thanks! I was experimenting with the tab macro and ended up making some pages I didn't mean to.
Sorry I caused you some work; thanks for speedily deleting them!

Colin Munroe
Hi,I am writing about the concern of the Colin Munroe Page on wikipedia.org. I have all rights to photos and material on Colin Munroe, including music and press. I would like to know what needs to be done to keep this page up? He is important because he is signed to Universal Motown. Thank you
http://www.wikipedia.org/colin_munroe
--Fspr (talk) 22:11, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
- Please read WP:MUSIC for info. As per "being important", that's not relevant to WP. Being notable and providing verifiable reliable sources is. Good luck. -- Alexf(talk) 22:46, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
I'm sorry, but you must have read this one wrong - this isn't close to A7 territory. Can I please have it restored? Chubbles (talk) 19:45, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- OK. I re-read it and you may have a point. Restored. -- Alexf(talk) 20:22, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the quick restore, appreciated. Chubbles (talk) 20:33, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
your assistance please...
The record shows you deleted Wazir Arsala Khan, under CSD criteria A7.
Are we talking about the same individual -- the 19th Century foreign minister of Afghanistan, and member of the very prominent clan that included Abdul Haq?
Could you please userify the article, its revision history and talk page to User:Geo Swan/review/Wazir Arsala Khan?
Thanks! Geo Swan (talk) 21:20, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- No, it is not. The article had only one sentence and only one edit (the creation edit and the editor that nominated for CSD). The whole text of the article was as follows:
- "Related to Mr. Tawab jan, famous Afghan soccer player renowned for his play in the Cholebob Premier League."
- That's it, no cats, no refs, nothing else. -- Alexf(talk) 21:39, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- Okay. Thanks. Geo Swan (talk) 00:29, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

I have had to recreate this category again, having spotted that it had been (again) deleted subsequent to being de-populated (again) by an anonymous vandal with an obscure grudge against the admirably knowledgable (sadly former) editor user:Bill Thayer. See User talk:87.6.194.103, and in particular the anon editor’s threat: ‘Or i smash your face’.
Its members (currently (Bevagna, Cantalupo di Bevagna, Limigiano and Mevania)) are small places, but ones with historic and artistic importance. It is standard practice when an Italian municipality (comune) has articles on several of its so-called frazioni to group them in a municipal category.
Unfortunately when the admins (user:Kimchi.sg, user: Anthony Appleyard, user: Wizardman and user:Alexf) have previously deleted this category, they have been unwittingly perpetuating these acts of vandalism by the anon bully.

Santiago Hernán Villafañe
Hi, could you kindly move this page Santiago Hernán Villafañe to Santiago Villafañe since there is no need for middle name disambiguation. The 2nd one is currently a redirect to Real Madrid Castilla but Villafañe clearly passes the notability criteria having played 4 games for Boca Juniors as indicated by the source I just added. Regards King of the North East 20:23, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
- Done. -- Alexf(talk) 13:00, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
Deleted article - Tefen
Hello, on December 18 my article on Tefen (management consulting firm) was deleted by you on account of G11: Blatant advertising Tefen. The article was not intended to be a form of advertising but rather a source of information on a well known, publicly traded firm. After reviewing the guidelines again and reading similar articles I'll be very happy to receive the opportunity to edit the article and rewrite it as objectively as possible. Thank you Adisheleg (talk) 12:23, 25 January 2009 (UTC)--
- Article has been restored to your userspace at User:Adisheleg/Tefen. Good luck. -- Alexf(talk) 14:19, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

- Huh? What are you talking about? If it's an article that was deleted as indicated above, please kindly post a link to the article's exact name so I can take a look. Also, please when asking something of other editors, especially administrators you want to get something out of, it helps to ask nicely. Lastly, being "famous" does not count on Wikipedia. Being notable and verifiable do. -- Alexf(talk) 18:42, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
WIX.com
Hi, can you pls explain me, why did you deleted the WIX.com page?
Thanks, Ilan —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.199.119.107 (talk) 10:41, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
- The article did not assert notability under WP:WEB and was deleted under CSD article A7. It had been previously deleted (the week before) under Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/WIX.com. All the article said at the time of last deletion was: "Wix.com is a free, online, flash webpage designer which can be found at www.wix.com". -- Alexf(talk) 12:55, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
You closed the AFD as a speedy delete, and deleted, but its been recreated with all the AFD and speedy tags intact. DO you fancy hitting the zap button again? Mayalld (talk) 16:26, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Just a comment . . . I've been reading the Articles for Deletion pages for the last few weeks, trying to get a better sense of how the process works. I noticed that this article got speedy deleted, but the entry at Articles for Deletion didn't list any reason for the speedy deletion. I'm assuming that the speedy deletion was because the article didn't make a claim of notability (i.e. A7), but that isn't stated in the Articles for Deletion entry (the discussion said the person wasn't notable, but not that there was no claim of notability). I think it would helpful for users less familiar with the deletion process if the reason something is deleted is clearly stated, especially if it is speedy deleted. Calathan (talk) 18:42, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- The article deletion notice said "A7 No indication that the article may meet guidelines for inclusion: Fails WP:ATHLETE". Is that not clear enough? It does point to the proper pages containing the speedy deletion guidelines. If you'd like to improve the messages for newcomers, or otherwise discuss the deletion policies, you may want to write a message at Wikipedia talk:Deletion policy. -- Alexf(talk) 18:47, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- I think you misunderstood somewhat. I have no interest in that particular article, and never clicked on the link to it. I've just been reading the listings at Articles for Deletion (e.g. Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Log/2009_January_28 and find them to regularly be very obtuse. I'm guessing that the people who actually wrote the articles that are being deleted will click on the red links and get more information, but I still think that the listings at Articles for Deletion should be more user friendly. However, I'm thinking I should make a comment at Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_deletion though, rather than here. Calathan (talk) 19:03, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- I see. You added your comments to this section instead of starting another one so I assumed you were talking about the subject of this section. Yes, the deletion process talk page is a better place, to discuss your ideas with the community. -- Alexf(talk) 19:10, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry, I was talking about Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Log/2009_January_28#Adam_Tremelling as a specific example of the issue I have been seeing, but I realize now I should have instead commented on the issue as a whole rather than this specific example. my page was deleted unfairly
Okay, so all my work was put into this "LAWRENCE WADE" hes a contestant on the 50 cent the money and the power. you guys have pages on "americas dance show or whatever" whats the difference? all i wanted to do was make a page cause i was bored, I'm wondering if you can undelete the page? - It was not deleted unfairly. It was deleted following the rules and regulations of Wikipedia. Specifically under Criteria A7 of the speedy deletion rules. What makes this subject notable? Do you have any reliable sources to support your claim? Please note that Wikipedia strives for verifiability not perceived importance or fame. Also note that just because other stuff exists is not a valid reason to keep an article, and please remember to always sign your posts in Talk pages with four tildes (~~~~) at the end. Thank you. -- Alexf(talk) 15:35, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
Deletion of John A. Kelly
Hello Alexf,
I am new and trying to figure this out. I submitted the page by using the link "John A. Kelly" from the page titled "Blackfriars Massacre." While I was trying to figure out how to cite my references (some of which are too old to find online, I have hard copies), my page was deleted. Can you please help me figure out how to keep my page?
