@Drmies: I've had a look at a rangeblock but it would be a /10, ie about 0.1% of the entire internet (the BT ISP in the UK). The collateral damage makes it impractical. I'll take a bit more of a look later today and see if there's anything that can be done with a filter, or whether protection could be applied narrowly enough to make it a feasible defense against this. Any way to contact BT ISP and inform them of the trouble? Maybe they can narrow the point of attack down a bit more. Yeah, if the vandalizer is going from starbucks to starbucks probably not, but if they are using a particular library or office maybe the ISP will lend a hand?
