Carlos Hank González
Hi Jimmy. I recently created a draft for Carlos Hank González, a prominent Mexican banker, located at Draft:Carlos Hank González (businessman). Since I see you are a member of WikiProject Biography, and you say you have an interest in economics, would you be able to take a look and move the draft to mainspace if you agree he passes GNG? I have a COI and will not do so myself. Thanks in advance! Maya2022 (talk) 16:01, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hi, i'll review it tomorrow, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 20:05, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Jimmy, thank you very much for moving the draft to mainspace. I noticed you put up a COI tag on the article. Is that because you noticed issues of bias in the content? If so, I would love to do whatever is necessary to rectify that. As you can see, I had already put up a COI disclosure at Talk:Carlos Hank González (businessman) and on my user page. Thanks, Maya2022 (talk) 14:52, 25 July 2022 (UTC)
One clarification needed
Dear Editor, my edit here [[1]] was reverted, I had changed it because as far as I could see the lines stating "upper caste historian highlight Rani Laxmi Bai" was probably missing in the referenced para, this was the reason I had removed. It would be helpful if you can respond to the above points. Thanks Akalanka820 (talk) 05:00, 26 July 2022 (UTC)

New Page Patrol newsletter August 2022
Hello Atlantic306,
- Backlog status
After the last newsletter (No.28, June 2022), the backlog declined another 1,000 to 13,000 in the last week of June. Then the July backlog drive began, during which 9,900 articles were reviewed and the backlog fell by 4,500 to just under 8,500 (these numbers illustrate how many new articles regularly flow into the queue). Thanks go to the coordinators Buidhe and Zippybonzo, as well as all the nearly 100 participants. Congratulations to Dr vulpes who led with 880 points. See this page for further details.
Unfortunately, most of the decline happened in the first half of the month, and the backlog has already risen to 9,600. Understandably, it seems many backlog drive participants are taking a break from reviewing and unfortunately, we are not even keeping up with the inflow let alone driving it lower. We need the other 600 reviewers to do more! Please try to do at least one a day.
- Coordination
- MB and Novem Linguae have taken on some of the coordination tasks. Please let them know if you are interested in helping out. MPGuy2824 will be handling recognition, and will be retroactively awarding the annual barnstars that have not been issued for a few years.
- Open letter to the WMF
- The Page Curation software needs urgent attention. There are dozens of bug fixes and enhancements that are stalled (listed at Suggested improvements). We have written a letter to be sent to the WMF and we encourage as many patrollers as possible to sign it here. We are also in negotiation with the Board of Trustees to press for assistance. Better software will make the active reviewers we have more productive.
- TIP - Reviewing by subject
- Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages by their most familiar subjects can do so from the regularly updated sorted topic list.
- New reviewers
- The NPP School is being underused. The learning curve for NPP is quite steep, but a detailed and easy-to-read tutorial exists, and the Curation Tool's many features are fully described and illustrated on the updated page here.
- Reminders
- Consider staying informed on project issues by putting the project discussion page on your watchlist.
- If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, suggest they help the effort by placing
{{subst:NPR invite}}
on their talk page. - If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.
- To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

Deleted acc
Hey! I tried to create a draft for a known tattoo artist (I know him personally) he’s getting very known around the world and he has his own name in the tattoo industry.
I’ve noticed that my article was deleted because of the copy paste, I copy it from his website and I wasn’t vandalising anybody. I did this with his permission because the info that I wrote has to do with his life and career. PinkWriter99 (talk) 16:08, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
- (by talk reader) @PinkWriter99: You have a conflict of interest. Nonsense like
"he’s getting very known around the world and he has his own name in the tattoo industry"
is the sort of mindless promotional-speak we do not allow here. The content on other websites, unless specifically marked public domain or CC we assume to be copyrighted. The subject probably doesn't own the content and cannot simultaneously own the content on his website and let you provide it here as Wikipedia is CC-BY-SA. This is a legal problem for you. Further, Wikipedia doesn't need an article about this person. We could write it for ourselves had we wanted to. Chris Troutman (talk) 17:22, 28 August 2022 (UTC)- Very well! We don’t seem to understand each other on my question. But one last question, is it possible to rewrite it again with my own words this time? Make it unique, and not a copyright. Let me see your thoughts on this sir. Thank you PinkWriter99 (talk) 18:22, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
- @PinkWriter99: You could but there's no reason: the subject is not notable. This might be hard to see from our prospective, but this Greek tattoo artist fails WP:ANYBIO and WP:GNG. As always, I recommend you wait until the subject dies, as most of what is ever written about any person doesn't happen during their lives. Further, because this is an encyclopedia not an advertising platform, we do a better job by the subject to wait until we have good source material, rather than to cobble together a junk write-up based up a single, lousy source. If we have a good entry a century from now rather than a bad entry today, I'll always choose the former option. Again, there is no deadline. Chris Troutman (talk) 20:21, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for your reply! I appreciate it sir. I believe you may be wrong on that because I've noticed many famous tattoo artists that hasn't died and yet they have a very professional Wikipedia page that briefly describes their life stories, career etc. I'll write it here below and perhaps if you have time you can have a better look at it, i'd really appreciate that sir. This is his Wikipedia page - Bang Bang (tattoo artist)
- I did not quite understand if i am able to remake the article that i was working on, would that still be possible? I did not respect Wikipedia's policy until now and you have my apologies for that. I am quite new to this, I've done edits and did some research on how Wikipedia works but it seems that i fail to it sadly but now i am aware of the situation.I am looking forward seeing your reply on this.
- Once again my apologies for the inconvenience. PinkWriter99 (talk) 18:52, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the example of Bang Bang (tattoo artist). As you can see, those sources include The New York Times, NPR, BBC, and Vogue. Each piece is specifically about the subject. The same isn't true for Anko. Maybe it will be someday but we're not there, yet. Yes, you could make a new sandbox entry in your own words but it makes little sense until there is coverage from reliable sources. There are famous people from all walks of life: famous doctors, famous accountants, famous shopkeepers, etc. That doesn't make all doctors, accountants, or shopkeepers famous. Chris Troutman (talk) 18:59, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for your reply sir. One last question I've noticed that in the Wikipedia's policy it says that if you're writing about someone you know, it is more likely to get accepted if someone else is doing the article for you such as an Wikipedia editor that knows and is aware of the policy and how to create an article correctly. Could you perhaps guide me a little bit on that? Is it possible to happen if it is done correctly by a Wikipedia editor? PinkWriter99 (talk) 19:13, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
- Typically, editors writing about people they know submit a draft to AfC. That way, an independent other editor will review it. If you wanted someone else's help, you could post to WP:RB. But again, without proper sourcing I'm not sure either of those paths would get to an acceptable article. Chris Troutman (talk) 19:29, 30 August 2022 (UTC)

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}}
