Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, AutismConnect. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 11:21, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Your account has been blocked from editing because your username gives the impression that the account represents a group, club, organization, company, or website. Your username is the principal reason for the block. You are welcome to continue editing after you have chosen a new username that complies with Wikipedia's username policy, which is summarized here.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable, regardless of the username that you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid or compensated in any way, you must disclose who is paying you to edit here. You may also read our FAQ for article subjects

Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change of your current account here. The new username that you choose must represent you as an individual person, and it must comply with Wikipedia's username policy.
  • To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then click here to make a new one.
  • If you prefer to change the username on this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page (this page): {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken or in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it also identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Appeals: If your username does not represent a group, organization, website, or other entity described above, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

Even if you change your user name, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Theroadislong (talk) 12:02, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As explained above, one option is to abandon the AutismConnect account and start a new account. At the new account, you should explain on your User page the nature of your connection to the organization. David notMD (talk) 03:53, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
At Teahouse you wrote that you have created a page (Wikipedia prefers "Articles"). Does that still exist, or was it Speedy deleted? I ask the second because the list of your contributions does not show any draft or article creation (Speedy removes content and history of edits of it). David notMD (talk) 03:57, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... (Reasons for Non-Promotional Nature The draft article is primarily focused on raising awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It highlights the valuable work of Autism Connect, an organization that provides free assistance to parents dealing with ASD. The intention is purely informational, aiming to share knowledge and spread awareness about a critical issue affecting many families worldwide.
Comparison with Existing Article - Autism Speaks: I understand that there is an existing article about Autism Speaks on Wikipedia. It's important to note that Autism Connect and Autism Speaks serve a similar purpose, both offering support and assistance to parents of individuals with ASD. The draft article on Autism Connect is not created for promotional purposes but to contribute to the knowledge base and provide an alternative perspective. Request for Retention: I kindly request you to reconsider the deletion of the draft article. The goal here is not promotion but to share information and resources that can benefit those seeking assistance and understanding regarding Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Seeking Guidance for Improvements: To ensure compliance with Wikipedia guidelines, I am open to making any necessary modifications. Could you please provide specific suggestions or guidelines that I can follow to enhance the article's neutrality and adherence to Wikipedia standards?
Your understanding and guidance in this matter are highly appreciated. If there are specific guidelines I can adhere to or modifications needed for the draft, please guide me accordingly.
Thank you for your time and attention to this request AutismConnect (talk) 06:39, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You say "The draft article is primarily focused on raising awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It highlights the valuable work of Autism Connect, an organization that provides free assistance to parents dealing with ASD. The intention is purely informational, aiming to share knowledge and spread awareness about a critical issue affecting many families worldwide." That is precisely unambiguous blatant promotion and will not be allowed. Theroadislong (talk) 08:02, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

As made clear above, the AutismConnect account is blocked because the name is the same as the organization. Have you created a new account? Is there an existing draft? David notMD (talk) 00:37, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

no i am still banned and no drafts, AutismConnect (talk) 05:38, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This account is blocked but you are not blocked. Therefore, you are permitted to abandon AC and start a new account. David notMD (talk) 18:09, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
