Proposed deletion of Todd Bezenek

You proposed deletion of the article about me on my birthday back in 2009. How cool!
I expect the article will come back someday.
I worked on the PhD project that Subu Sastry did. Look him up.
Can I write up a Subramanya Sastry Wikipedia article, or am I too close to Sastry? Note: People call him Subu nowadays. I called him Sastry because I met him before he had the nickname.

How can I find the error in my contribution to the "Windows search" article?
I want to know what I had wrong back then. I wonder what it was. Maybe I didn't give a proper reference because I was contributing as an expert. Please let me know.

Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. Copying within Wikipedia

You did not identify the source of the material in your edit. It appears to be 2020_United_States_presidential_election. Copying within Wikipedia is acceptable but it must be attributed.

This type of edit does get picked up by Copy Patrol and a good edit summary helps to make sure we don't accidentally revert it. However, for future use, would you note the best practices wording as outlined at Wikipedia:Copying_within_Wikipedia? In particular, linking to the source article and adding the phrase "see that page's history for attribution" helps ensure that proper attribution is preserved.

While best practices are that attribution should be added to the edit summary at the time the edit is made, the linked article on best practices describes the appropriate steps to add attribution after the fact. I hope you will do so.

I've noticed that this guideline is not very well known, even among editors with tens of thousands of edits, so it isn't surprising that I point this out to some veteran editors, but there are some t's that need to be crossed.S Philbrick(Talk) 11:44, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe reconsider?

I saw your edit to your user page. Maybe you should reconsider posting your phone number? It's really not wise; anyone can use it for malicious actions, and it certainly doesn't prove anything about your claimed credentials. If you want, you can email Oversight to request that it be deleted so that it isn't even visible in the page history. Schazjmd (talk) 18:00, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You have a good point. I assume page histories are not searchable. And this page is not searchable, so I don't have to have this page removed. Whew!
I need to change "Phone" to "You know what to do with this". Thank you for pointing out the flaw!

There are sites that clone wikipedia pages, including user pages. That's why some editors put Template:User page at the top of their user pages. Up to you. Schazjmd (talk) 20:50, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I thought I read that that the User: HTML files had no-crawl tags so they would not be scraped, hence they could not be cloned. If I remember correctly, it was introduced in 2015.
If I'm misunderstanding, please correct me. If you are not sure, let me know and I can take a look at the html source. (I don't want to look at the source because it will take a lot of effort as I don't do that a lot.)

It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. An edit which you yourself describe as "I'm adding a personal anecdote with a friend from school who visited from Germany" is a clear breach of Wikipedia:Verifiability, a fundamental policy of Wikipedia. If I remember correctly, the change on the Hamm's Brewery page was based on an anecdote from my own experience, i.e., I was quoting myself.
I know someone who works for Wikimedia (I worked on my Ph.D. with him), so I often assume things apply to me which do not apply to others.
