Kama & Artha are lower Purusharths is a wrong statement.

[edit]

One could say for deploring Kama & Artha as lower Purusharths. It could have been said, just to make people move to Dharma & Moksha. Lot of Sanyasees try to deplore Kama & Artha, particularly Jain Sadhus try to create hate in the minds of people living family life.

Does one not need money to do one's religious duties or support Sanyasees or Brahmins or religious institutions? Krishna has said in Srimad Bhagawad Geeta that "Kama" is my "Vibhuti." In Hindu doctrines "Kama" is supported confining sexual pleasure with one's wedded spouse in the witness of fire (A form of God), Brahmin and society. Is it possible to conquer "Kama" by any average person? Vishwamitra also sliped. When Krishna declared "Kama" as Krishna's "Vibhuti" who are we to deplore "Kama"? Indian has n' number of Sanyasees. With due respect to Swami Bhaskaranandji, I say that anything said in a particular situation or a context should not be incorporated in an article like Wikipedia which shall remain on a public forum for a long long future. Hope everyone will see the damage being done to Hindusim and restrain from continuing with statements deploring 4 pursuits of life. Swadhyayee 14:40, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Stop defending Americans, they wouldn't remember if they ever throw the bomb on India.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.78.242.91 (talkcontribs)

My dear 200.78.242.91, please try to understand that we are a global virtual community. Once you understand this, all foolish thoughts (like the above) shall depart from your mind and heart. --Bhadani 13:49, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure whether you have already been made aware of this or whether you are acquainted with the religion-based edit wars that these users are part of. But I urge you to make a comment on WP:RFAr. Sockpuppetry, I believe, is not the main issue of this case and is instead a simple medium which BhaiSaab is using to get rid of Hkelkar and defame Bakasuprman in the process (some suggested Bakaman is Hkelkar's sock but that was soon rebutted). Nobleeagle [TALK] [C] 04:09, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rama's arrow and Sir Nick have told me to try and not have an "us vs them" thing, but that's exactly what this RFA is. Its a cheap trick by anti-Hindu users to get rid of users sympathetic to Hindutva. Certain opportunists (cough**cough** you know who) have jumped on the Hindu user-bashing bandwagon.Bakaman Bakatalk 05:12, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Our procedures and processes are not infallible and are susceptible to misuse too (sometimes). I have seen one of my friends charged and indefinitely blocked (after hardly 10 or 12 innocent and normal edits) as that administrator suspected that user to be a sockpuppet of a particular user already blocked: I learnt that some administrators are astrologers too! I have repeatedly told this incidence several times, and this proved to me a point: our system is subjective in many cases rather most of the cases. Had that user been not so blocked, he/she would have proved at least ten times more productive than users like me. Having experienced this and having said this, I should surely feel an attachment to wikipedia to be "fooling" around! Perhaps there are many amongst us who do not want wikipedia to emerge as the best encyclopedia as its emergence would threaten many established encyclopedias. Naturally, such elements amongst us shall always try to drive away the good and reliable editors, at least they shall try to annoy them to reduce their productivity. However, this should not be a cause for despondency and disappointment as I had found that good editors would survive in the long run. At the same time, you should also understand that the Indian nation has remained a subjugated nation for more than 1000 years, and any resurgence of Indian national pride attracts attention, mostly adverse, and people may try to defame this national pride by connoting various names to it like Hindu fundamentalism, Hindutva and so on. Some had even gone to the extent of comparing this resurgence with National Socialism to gain confidence of certain social groups! In case, I feel like giving any input in the said WP:RFAr, I would surely do - however, I am not sure of myself to be useful in such "serious affairs" of wikipedia as I am a simple editor to take part in serious business of wikipedia. I thank you for your message. Regards. --Bhadani 14:24, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anyways, 4 votes have been cast on "accept" so the gauntlet has been thrown. We will see what ends up happening. Its nice to see that the valued contributors have strongly censured the trolls, though a few snakes still roam around in the jungles of wiki.Bakaman Bakatalk 23:32, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

O India! Land of our ancestors
Your forehead is wreathed with glorious garlands!
As your arm can bear the sword,
It can bear the cross;
Your history is an epic
Of the most brilliant feats.
And your valour, in faith steeped,
Will protect our homes and our rights;
Will protect our homes and our rights.

Perhaps no wikipedians should object to India singing a national song like above. --Bhadani 16:02, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I prefer Jana Gana Mana personally. Anyway, I was thinking about the Get Well Soon thing posted up there and it gave me an idea of bringing Gandhigiri to Wiki. So many things are in mess here that I feel disgusted and disappointed and as such I have reduced my activity here as no one would like to waste time in foolish discussion. However, I am still hanging on and I am sure that the Project shall continue to improve and attain still higher levels. Bangalore meetup 1

[edit]

Hi! Congrats to you guys for organising such a meetup. Keep organising more. --Victor 23:46, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. In fact, we should have more meets like Bangalore Meet in other parts of India. I shall surely make it a point to attend such meets as and when held unless exceptional circumstances of real life may prevent me from attending such a meet-up. We should organise such meets at least in metros like Mumbai, Chennai, New Delhi, Kolkata and other bigger places. We should also try to establish a Wikimedia India Chapter. --Bhadani 14:21, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Meetups like these brings the virtual Wikipedia to the real world. Establishing a Wikimedia India Chapter is a very good idea. It'll help providing a platform for like minded Wikipedians. Cheers! --Victor 16:52, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bhadaniji - thank you very much for your support and guidance. You are a role model for every Wikipedian. Btw, I noted that you may be upset about certain problems Wikipedia is facing. Please don't consider leaving (or becoming inactive) - the problems are not as serious as the growth of the encyclopedia in the right direction. If you like, take a break or so but don't leave! If I can be of assistance for anything, just gimme a buzz. Thanks again, Rama's arrow 03:16, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I thank you for your note of encouragement. Niravjee, actually I am not leaving as such - I know as the community grows, new challenges would always surface. This is not a problem as we are the most resilient virtual community, capable of neutralizing any challenges. For last few months, I have remained generally inactive for all practical purpose though I am not completely inactive. I shall surely like to continue and would certainly become more active very soon. I do not find any necessity to take any break as I do not feel stressed any more - Wikipedia is rather de-stressing! Issue with an editor

[edit]

Hi there Bhadani. Recently there has been an user Aftab Kiran whose contributions are limited to just 3 topics, Operation Polo, Nizam and Hyderabad State. He seems to revert to his POV version of history which isn't backed up by references and despite other editors reverting his edits, he continues to revert. I've spoken to him, but he has behaved in an uncivil manner abusing me as being one of those who destroyed the Babri Masjid! I hope you can either block him or semiprotect those pages to avoid his editing because he's consistently coming back for last 2-3 weeks to revert. Idleguy 04:05, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My reply copied from his talk page: Forget him - Hello. I am talking to you after a long time. Forget him: [2]. In case people find that one destructive, he/he shall be suitably dealt with by someone. I find that taking any action is of no use as our processes are not capable of dealing with such destructive edits, if any! Thanks. --Bhadani 10:59, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, Bhadaniji. Hope you are fine. It is a long time since we talked. I was actually busy in real life for a few months because of family matters, but it is slightly better now. Makes me wonder how you find so much time for Wikipedia ! Tintin (talk) 09:38, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Of late, for real life work commitments I too find little time for wikipedia, and sometimes wastage of time in useless issues and discussion has made me reduce my presence here as I do not want to waste my time with the those who edit here with an agenda. Ultimately, the wiki-community shall take care of them and they shall be exposed and continue to get exposed. Having said this, I may add that I shall continue here on a long term basis as I know ultimately all will understand the futility of wasting time in useless issues and discussion. Moreover, adding to the sum total of human knowledge is an interesting pastime. I manage to do little edits somehow despite other commitments. Please remain in touch. Orphaned fair use image (Image:George Bush & Manmohan Singh On India Today Cover.JPG)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:George Bush & Manmohan Singh On India Today Cover.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Renaming a Category

[edit]

Hi Bhadaniji, how are you ? Recently, I came across a category called Category:Government of Mumbai. Actually, I feel that the title of the category is incorrect, as no such thing exists as the government of Mumbai. I feel the category should be renamed to "Governance of Mumbai". Someone had already raised the point on the talkpage. But noone renamed the category. I am not too familiar with the process of renaming categories. Can you help me on this one ? Thanks, --NRS | T/M\B 17:38, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with your point - there is no such entity as the Government of Mumbai, and perhaps it should be changed to Governance of Mumbai. However, we may see the names of similar categories, if any, for other metros like Kolkata and Chennai. Most likely, the redundant category will have to be deleted after complying with the procedure. A reference to Nichalp should be useful. I am doing this by cutting-pasting these exchanges on his talk page. --Bhadani 18:57, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
But, I found many Category:Government by city and some of them may be having their own governments too. --Bhadani 19:02, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for looking into the matter, Bhadaniji. And yeah, it seems many of the other cities may be having their own government. We'll not hasten the renaming. Should I post this at the Indian Noticeboard ? So that other editors may also have a look ? But the noticeboard doesn't seem to be much active. I had posted a message there sometime ago. But no messages after that. Anyways, let's see what Nichalp has to say about this. Bye for now. Take care. --NRS | T/M\B 05:12, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
