Question
Hi OFP: Can I ask why you consider the British Trust for Ornithology an unreliable source? It's the main scientific and research-oriented ornithological group in the UK. If they're putting up numbers for lengths and weights, you can be assured they're correct! MeegsC (talk) 08:41, 15 April 2022 (UTC)

Facile removal of "unsourced" material
Hi there. I appreciate your desire to remove unsourced material from the encyclopedia, but I'm afraid you are making things too easy for yourself. Of ten such removals of yours that happened to turn up on my watchlist, I found that in four it was a simple case of the reference being cited too early in the text - i.e., after the first sentence based on that source, with the rest trailing. This is a mistake that new editors make frequently, and you need to be aware of it. As an example, this statement is contained in the source cited for the previous sentence. That was trivial to check, and should have come to mind just from looking at the (very specific) content. In such a case, just move the reference to the end of the paragraph.
By merely chopping off text at the end of a paragraph that looks unsourced, without going through the due diligence of having a look at the previous reference, you are doing damage to the content, not improving it. Please be more careful in this regard. Cheers and happy editing! --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 13:59, 15 April 2022 (UTC)
- Hello, thanks for informing me. I just thought of removing them because they were mostly not cited at the end of the paragraph, just like at the Cockroach, but I often instead of removing it I placed "[citation needed]" like at the Red fox article.
