Quotations[edit]

"Quotations" sections aren't used, but individual quotes are accepted. Example:

Through a 2002 San Francisco Chronicle interview, Jamison revealed his interest with science began at an early age.

I became fascinated with science when I visited my parents at an exhibition. I enjoyed visiting countries watching my parents performing fascinating experiments. At age ten, I knew that was the career for me and I've never regretted it."
— Paul Jamison

— Jamison explaining why became a scientist through a San Francisco Chronicle interview

An example of the quotation box's appearance is Bill Watterson#Early career. Thanks for your contributions!

Filmography section on Maria Newman[edit]

Hi, thank you for your recent article. I have performed some general cleanup of it, and I would just like to inform you that the info in the filmography section needs to be converted to a table. Please use the link that is in the big orange cleanup box in that section for instructions.

Additonally, a huge chunk of your article is without references. Please add some to the sections that are unsourced, or the info may be challenged and removed, per WP:V and WP:BLP.

Thanks, Insulam Simia (talk) 19:58, 7 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Insulam Simia,

Thank you for your edits and your recommendations. I will follow your lead on this. I have a question. They removed both of our photos. What is it that was missing that needed additional citation? Perhaps I made an error. I was a bit confused about how the citation should be noted. I am new to this format and still learning the ropes. Appreciate your feedback and direction.

Thank you. ----CJBlevins C. J. Blevins (talk) 14:32, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nearly everything. In a perfect world, it'd be nice to see a reference per sentence. Also the photo was removed because there was no permission.
Oh, and sorry for the late reply. Insulam Simia (talk) 14:59, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your response, Insulam.

So you are saying that every sentence needs to be referenced? I thought I left references for each area and on the listings and that there was only a required 3 references. I misunderstood...being a newbie at this. I will have to go through and clean this up and add more references. Am I at least citing them correctly?

On the photos, we have permission, but perhaps I didn't cite it correctly. Can you advise?

Thank you. ----CJBlevins C. J. Blevins (talk) 10:12, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I don't understand what you mean above (I thought I left references for each area and on the listings and that there only a required 3 references), but all that I can recommend is to add more references to sections completely unsourced. You are citing correctly however.
On the photo, see WP:DONATE. Also you say "we"; do you work with Maria? We strongly discourage editing things that you may be associated with. Sorry for the late reply. Thanks, Insulam Simia (talk · contribs) 08:09, 28 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Insulam... No worries. I appreciate your feedback and attention. In response to your inquiry...my bad, by "we", I meant my associate - I think though I may have figured that out. I have been a big fan of the Newman family of musicians/composers for a long time, and have studied her father's works as well as her cousin, Randy. I have only had the pleasure of meeting Maria in person at a couple of performances a couple of years ago. Once I read the Alfred Newman page, I thought it was an injustice that she didn't have her own page as the rest of her siblings. She is a renown composer in her own right, as well as a virtuoso violinist/pianist and composer and performs regularly. She's also written over 200 compositions, not including her movie listings. One composition won a Pulitzer Prize. I do understand the rules though as you cite. I hope I meet the standards. I've wanted to contribute for a long time, but never felt passionately about it, until this page.

Thank you. ----CJBlevins C. J. Blevins (talk) 1:50, 28 August 2013 (UTC) C. J. Blevins (talk)

Yes okay that's fine, you meet the rules. Will you be donating the file (per WP:DONATE)? Insulam Simia (talk · contribs) 14:56, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I want to do everything correctly for this article, and appreciate your guidance on these issues. I did make a donation via WP:DONATE and happy to do so. Please let me know if there are other protocols I need to do for the article. I'm sorry for being such a "newbie". I have a couple of other articles I hope to contribute as well. I'm really enjoying learning this process. Thank you so much for your replies and feedback. ----CJBlevins C. J. Blevins (talk) 13:16, 4 September 2013 (UTC) C. J. Blevins (talk)[reply]
Well, as I said above, there needs to be more references, as whole sections are completely unreferenced. As well as of course the fact that the filmography section needs to be converted to a table (see Help:Tables). Insulam Simia (talk · contribs) 17:01, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Very sorry for the belated response. I'm definitely working on it, and think I have a better understanding now. I just cleaned up the recommended are with tables, and am re-writing ares of content with more references. I will be posting more changes soon. Thank you for all your help and support, as well as your patience with my wiki newbie-ness. :-) ----CJBlevins C. J. Blevins (talk) 23:43, 8 October 2013 (UTC) C. J. Blevins (talk)[reply]
Still working on the page at Maria Newman. I also submitted photos for submission a while back. That said, I also have another page I had been working on the sandbox, but have an existing "draft" sandbox of it that was my "work copy" at the time, but I would like to delete it, so that it's the main page of my sandbox. I already deleted the MN sandbox. Please advise? More updates will be posted soon. Thank you for all your help and support, as well as your patience. :-) ----CJBlevins C. J.
