Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, CamarieMontiglio. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Dominick Montiglio, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. SoWhy 16:25, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

On that topic, please note that even assuming that you are who you say you are, Wikipedia has to rely on reliable secondary sources for its content. That means even if you personally know different, you cannot add information that cannot be verified by any interested reader. That includes making changes to text that has a source next to it but which the source does not support. As such, I have reverted your edits to the Dominick Montiglio artilce for now. If you do have sources, please provide them and use the propose changes system (see above) to request changes to the article. Regards SoWhy 16:33, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. Well, this is coming from me and I lived it. There are several inaccuracies that I can correct CamarieMontiglio (talk) 16:43, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

So you say but unfortunately, we cannot verify whether that is true. On the internet, anyone can claim to be anyone else and so we cannot rely on people claiming to know better. I know that is frustrating but it's a necessary policy to stop people from impersonating subjects of articles or their family members and adding all kinds of misinformation. As I mentioned, you are welcome to provide sources like newspaper articles (including obituaries) that allows me and other editors to verify the changes you wish to make.
