[edit]Hello, I'm Waggie. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions —specifically this edit to William Crooks (locomotive)—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Help desk. Thanks. Waggie (talk) 06:06, 24 June 2020 (UTC)
William Crooks
[edit]If you want to create an article about the American Civil War colonel - instead of overwriting the disambiguation list - click the redlink of his name here: William Crooks - add the information to this new page to create a new article, and add a link to it on the disambiguation page - the new article should also have references added to verify the information. - EdwardUK (talk) 17:21, 24 June 2020 (UTC)
Got it. Thank you! Chumpy04 (talk) 02:42, 26 June 2020 (UTC)
So do I go to “Article Wizard” and then make a draft? Chumpy04 (talk) 02:47, 26 June 2020 (UTC)
- You can use the Article Wizard or the "submit your draft" link in your sandbox, but Article Wizard is useful for new editors as it gives information on how to improve the article. When you have finished working on a sandbox/draft version and submitted it, it will go through the "Articles for creation" process where a reviewer will either accept the article or suggest improvements (which can sometimes take a several weeks, but from my experience takes less time if the draft is well sourced and correctly formatted). What you have in your sandbox looks good, but there are a few things I can suggest before you submit it.
- Footnotes are needed – references should be placed next to the information they relate to – see Help:Footnotes, and using a citation template such as
{{cite web}}
gives more details, for example:<ref name=MLRL>{{cite web|url=https://www.leg.state.mn.us/legdb/fulldetail?id=11709|title=Crooks, William "Wm."|website=Minnesota Legislative Reference Library|accessdate=June 27, 2020}}</ref>
- Categories are needed – these can be listed at the end, for example
[[:Category:Union Army colonels]]
. Have a look at articles on similar people to get ideas for which categories could be added. - More wikilinks would be helpful - such as to the railroad companies and to the Dakota War of 1862 article. EdwardUK (talk) 23:12, 27 June 2020 (UTC)
- Footnotes are needed – references should be placed next to the information they relate to – see Help:Footnotes, and using a citation template such as
Hi, thank you for expanding the biography of Ramsay Crooks! Ideally, an article like this should have footnotes throughout. I'll do my best to work some footnotes into this the next few days. Pete Forsyth (talk) 17:38, 24 June 2020 (UTC)

Happy Dad Hard Seltzer moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Happy Dad Hard Seltzer, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. —twotwofourtysix(My talk page and contributions) 14:07, 1 June 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Hello Chumpy04. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Chumpy04. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Chumpy04|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. BEACHIDICAE🌊 14:18, 1 June 2021 (UTC)

- What is your connection to the subjects which you are writing about? BEACHIDICAE🌊 14:31, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
I don’t have a connection other than I am a fan of their work. I simply want to promote their new product without being paid. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chumpy04 (talk • contribs) 18:17, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
- Just so you know, Wikipedia isn't for promotion, regardless of whether you're getting paid or not. —twotwofourtysix(My talk page and contributions) 23:46, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
Just an FYI I have been involved in Nelk’s Wikipedia page for a while now and I also created Kyle Forgeard’s page about a month ago. They are the founders of this new seltzer and it will be very big very soon. I am also in the process of submitting my article so it can get approved. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chumpy04 (talk • contribs) 23:52, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Happy Dad Hard Seltzer
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Happy Dad Hard Seltzer, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. —twotwofourtysix(My talk page and contributions) 23:57, 1 June 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Happy Dad Hard Seltzer Logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:22, 4 June 2021 (UTC)

Birth dates
[edit]Hi. I wanted to explain why I reverted a change you made to Michele Tafoya. In this edit, you added a birth date, but you didn't cite a reliable source. Wikipedia has strict rules on content in biographies of living persons because this can impact real peoples' lives. Please be aware that many sites on the internet purport to give information about celebrities, but few of them of reliable. Sites like the IMDb use user-generated content, and they should not be cited in biographical articles. Similarly, celebrity gossip websites should not be used because most of them don't have a history of fact checking or publishing corrections. Fan sites and blogs are self-published and have no editorial control. We also can't use primary documents, such as government birth databases or genealogical websites (which are also typically user-generated, as above). This means that the number of available sources is quite slim, and we often have to either go without this information or wait until a source like Entertainment Weekly or the BBC publishes an interview that includes a birth date. If you're not sure whether a source is reliable, you can ask at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 04:35, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
November 2023
[edit]Please do not add or change content, as you did at Joshua Dobbs, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article.
In addition, please don't mark edits as being minor when they change the meaning of the article. Read Help:Minor_edit for more information. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 23:32, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
