Hello, and thanks for trying to improve articles about Rangers people. What you probably don't know is that Wikipedia has guidelines about what sort of links should and shouldn't be included in an article's External links section: see WP:External links. One bit which may be relevant is the section WP:EL#Advertising and conflicts of interest, which says "you should avoid linking to a site that you own, maintain, or represent". The site's very new: if in the future, people unconnected with it start noticing how good it is, no doubt they'll be keen to add it to appropriate pages. But until they do, you'd best not add it to any more Wikipedia pages or people will think you're trying to use Wikipedia to attract traffic to your site. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 12:10, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Struway2,

Thanks for the heads up. I've never really edited wikipedia before (apart from a few minor things here and there) so wasn't aware of those rules etc... I hadn't realise I was breaking any rules and hadn't thought about the consequences. I'll refrain from posting links to the site from now on. :-)

Thanks

No problem... I was just formulating a reply to your first post, when the amended one came through. Not that my opinion counts for anything, but your site does look quite good. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:30, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Clubstats. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.--Hu12 (talk) 16:05, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
