Hello, Creativeedge1, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Draft:Craig DiLouie, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.

Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. Citations

[edit]

Please read referencing for beginners to understand how to properly use citations. The process of citing a source goes beyond merely placing numbers in brackets and then listing sources separately; proper citations generate a link between the cited material and the citation used to verify that material. Conflict of interest and failure to disclose same

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Creativeedge1. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page John R. Miles, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Orange Mike | Talk 14:57, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Orange Mike,
My apologies as I was unaware of this stipulation. Can we default back to John's original listing prior to me making changes and I will not edit his page moving forward. If there are any more edit s to be made moving forward, I will ensure that the individual making them does not have a vested interest in John or his work.
Please advise and thank you,
Mickey Creativeedge1 (talk) 15:14, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, How do I do this?
I would recommend that you declare a conflict of interest with the subject, especially if you are being paid to edit the article. Creativeedge1 (talk) 17:03, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Declaration of conflict of interest and paid editing is a mandatory minimum. Next, you have to understand that you cannot "have" anybody make edits you think would be useful. Your role must be limited to offering the reliable sources and a suggestion of an edit that you believe would genuinely improve the article, regardless of its effect on the subject's reputation. --Orange Mike | Talk 22:59, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am willing to do all of this. Is there somewhere on John's page that I post this?? Creativeedge1 (talk) 01:49, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I apologize for piling on, but is your username that of an advertising agency, perhaps your agency? 331dot (talk) 12:07, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Yes my username is the name of my publicity company as I represent many authors. Again, I want to correct this and ensure that John's page does not get set for deletion. The page was set up before I even worked with him and I was unaware of the conflict of interest stipulation. I will do whatever needs to be done to get this corrected including deleting my own account or taking the correct stance to acknowledge the conflict of interest. I just don't know how to do that and if I can get the steps or if one of the editors wants to put that on the page, I would of course comply. Thank you. Creativeedge1 (talk) 12:12, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Per the username policy, usernames cannot solely be that of a company; the username must indicate that this account is exclusively used by a single person who does not give others access. Your real name is not required, just something unique to you. The name of your company can be a portion of your username, such as "JohnDoe of Creative edge". I can change your username if you tell what you want it changed to(accounts cannot be deleted). Let's deal with that first. 331dot (talk) 12:22, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for this! My name could be Mickey Mikkelson of Creative Edge. Please advise on next steps for everything else as well. I really appreciate this. Creativeedge1 (talk) 16:37, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have renamed your account. First things first, you need to make the Terms of Use required paid editing disclosure; you may do this by placing the following on your user page(as it appears here, not in the edit window where I had coding in place to suppress its function here):{{paid|user=Mickey Mikkelson of Creative Edge|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}} Your username is already included, but the "InsertName" should be removed from both employer and client with that information filled in. Once that's taken care of, you should review how to make edit requests. You can then make edit requests on Talk:John R. Miles, detailing changes you feel are needed to the article- independent editors will then review your proposed changes. 331dot (talk) 17:08, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. So just to clarify, I put this on my user page just like this:
Also what would my user name be now as I tried to log in and it would not let me. 2001:56A:F63E:4B00:D03F:18C7:60D2:46CD (talk) 17:20, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Your original password will be the same, you just need to use your current username. 331dot (talk) 20:04, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
what is the new user name?? 2001:56A:F63E:4B00:D03F:18C7:60D2:46CD (talk) 20:05, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The one you asked me to change it to, the title of this page, "Mickey Mikkelson of Creative Edge". 331dot (talk) 20:24, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for this. On a side note, my client John R. Miles is also receiving emails from Wikipedia freelance moderators stating that they will salvage his page adhering to Wikipedia's streict guidelines for a substantial fee. The fee they are charging is approximately $800 to $1000 which leaves me to believe that some Wikipedia moderators are now trying to profit from John's dilemma. I do have an email that I would gladly share but its unfortunate that someone is trying to profit from our unfortunate situation, someone that freelances to Wikipedia no less. 2001:56A:F63E:4B00:D03F:18C7:60D2:46CD (talk) 20:31, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
These people are scammers, and are impersonating admins. See WP:SCAM for more information and on how you can report these emails. 331dot (talk) 21:37, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I received your email; as a matter of policy I do not discuss Wikipedia matters via email unless the most sensitive personal information is involved. Unless you have a specific question I don't have anything to add beyond what was discussed in the deletion discussion. 331dot (talk) 16:42, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
