I m really sorry but I just edited the Britney Spears page,I may have deleted your edits by accident. SORRY!! Could you tell me on my talk page what you added so I could modify the page Batzarro 07:07, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

Singers

Cool !

I noticed you have been refining the categories on articles relating to singers. It is appreciated!--Rockero420 05:34, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

War

I've been adding stuff to the Britney Spears page. I'm stuck in an edit war. Batzarro 06:08, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

Do you also have trouble editing the Britney Spears page??? Batzarro 08:27, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

I dont know how i get into messes but when I added the part about Jessica beating her for Dukes of Hazzard, other fans kept reverting my edits and questioning me on my talk page.

I added more categories:baptists,English Americans,etcBatzarro 13:20, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

English singers

I notice that you moved Pete Atkin from Category:English singers to the larger Category:British singers. I could understand a change in the opposite direction (a sharpening of the category) but I cannot see how a singer born in England, who performs and records in England, singing songs in English in a genre called "English chansons" is more British than English. Please explain. —Theo (Talk) 00:02, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the explanation. I will revert Pete Atkin in this instance. The English/British thing is complicated but I do not think that we can have Category:Welsh singers and Category:Scottish singers without having Category:English singers. —Theo (Talk) 00:20, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

England is not the same thing as the United Kingdom. It would actually be very helpful if you could refine the cats, rather than blobbing them all up in an immense supercat.--Mais oui! 01:55, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

I agree with Mais oui!. Refinement into subcategory is the best plan. I imagine that there will be some anomalies, however. —Theo (Talk) 22:33, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

Hello!

Hi! I noticed you updated one of the articles I started regarding a certain compilation album. Would you mind voting to keep the page as-is? Article for deletion of my article I would appreciate it so much! The debates for deletion (I believe) have a very weak argument...and would hate to see my article deleted because I am out-numbered. THANK YOU SO MUCH! HOPE ALL IS WELL! Madangry 20:01, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

English usage

Some might call you a pedant. I, for one, applaud you for trying to keep Wiki English readable. I am reminded of a sign that was posted in our office kitchenette, "HELP KEEP ARE KITCHEN CLEAN." When I pointed that out to someone, he said I was being "picky". He would have called me a "pedant" if he knew the word. When I pasted a cutout of the word "OUR" over the "ARE", that took care of it; the sign was totally gone the next day, never to be seen again. Bravo to "speaking in the vernacular of the pedantry..." >:) Wahkeenah 04:17, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. I haven't been doing enough of that sort of thing lately; I've been on auto-pilot for most of my edits. But that would make me cringe as well. Crystallina 04:20, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
It made my parents (retired teachers) cringe, or maybe shriek a little, when I told them that story. As satirist and math professor Tom Lehrer said when he did a simple calculation in the "New Math" and came up with the wrong answer, "Well, the idea is the important thing!" FYI, I'll be in Greensboro and Chapel Hill this coming week. If I see you, I'll say, "Hey!" :)

WikiProject Enigma

Hi there Crystallina! I saw your edits recently at the Sandra Cretu article. :) I'm Andy and I'd like to let you know that I'm currently trying to get a WikiProject started for articles related to Enigma so that we could have a centralised area to work on the articles as a group.

But for now this is just a proposal to set up the WikiProject, as I'm the only person in it. If you're interested in helping out, do please check out my temporary WikiProject page: User:Andylkl/WikiProject Enigma and add your name there, as well as this page). Thanks for reading this! :) --Andylkl [ talk! | c ] 19:28, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

Stub category corrections

Crystallina, just want to thank you for helping me understand better about the different "stub" categories. I'm very new to Wikipedia and am learning as I go along. I appreciate help when needed. Take care, Rirave

Stub sorting

I would just like to say it's great what you are doing, I just put a stub. But could you please put two empty row's before you put a stub cause it looks better. For example Dreaming #11. You can check a new version and see the difference. Thanks! Death2 19:57, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

The Countess?

(mwah-ha-ha!) I see you're doing a lot of stub-counting and -sorting of US-bios lately -- for which, good on you. Are you doing this entirely by hand, or via some sort of automation? I'm going by double-stubbing for my numbers (as you may have noticed), which unfortunately is highly limited by the fact that over half the category is only single-stubbed. :/ (Over 1800 articles.) It's possible some of them have permanent categories which may help too, if I can correlate that information (which is a little trickier). At any rate, if there's some way we can co-ordinate our efforts on this, I'm game to try.

I'm somewhat relieved to see that I really had proposed US-skatingbio-; thought for a moment I was losing it even more than usual! Alai 16:23, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

Manual counting - I just finished the category last night. I had spot-checked a few common names before, and during the actual count, chose about ten-twelve categories that seemed to have a lot of stubs. Of them, the only ones that came close to reaching something near threshold were figure skaters and architects (which I listed), photographers, and tennis players. (I still need to go through the parent categories for the last two.) There are probably more ways to sort that I didn't note. Crystallina 21:20, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
I'd noticed that the "tennisbios" were creeping up, too. I have a list, which if it'd be of any interest I could readily upload, of double-stubbings in oversized categories that are close to the threshold. (This gets very long depending on how far one is prepared to consider "close", naturally enough.) Or if you find such articles, and double-stub them, that'll be useful in helping these get picked up as splittable in a count from a future db dump. Alai 23:26, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

baseball-pitcher-stub

Hello. I noticed the stub sorting you did in regards to pitchers. Excellent idea as the baseball-bio category is vary large. I put a suggestion in at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Stub_sorting/Proposals#.7B.7Bbaseball-pitcher-stub.7D.7D to create one for catchers as well. Do you think I can consider the discussion there as sufficent to support stubs for all the other positons as well ? No Guru 16:57, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the feedback. I made a new request for this stub. No Guru 19:06, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

beatles-song-stub

I recently went through the list of songs listed as Beatles song stubs (Category: Beatles song stubs) and removed those that weren't Beatles songs, but actually songs released by members of The Beatles as solo artists. You subsequently reverted many of my changes with your "Stub-sorting. You can help!" comment. I'm assuming that this was done in good faith and that you didn't mean to revert my edits, so I'm just going to make you aware of songs that are not Beatles songs and should not be listed using {{beatles-song-stub}}:

Gordon P. Hemsley 19:01, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

Yes, I realize that those songs are not Beatles songs, but the category text reads:
"This category is for stub articles relating to songs by The Beatles and any of the four members individually. You can help Wikipedia by expanding them." (Emphasis added by me.)
The scope includes those songs. Crystallina 19:19, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
Hmm... well, this is an interesting predicament. When I originally made those changes (on March 21), the text read, "This category is for stub articles relating to specific The Beatles songs. You can help Wikipedia by expanding them." [1] It was later changed (on March 27) to what you quoted above. [2] So, the question is: now what? Gordon P. Hemsley 19:29, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
I'm inclined towards including those songs, just so the main song-stub category won't be as overpopulated. It's currently hovering just above/below the list. Crystallina 19:31, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
Sorry, which list is that? I'm going to take a look at this Wikipedia:WikiProject The Beatles that's involved in the edit and maybe make myself a bit more useful, rather than counter-productive. I'll get back to you. Gordon P. Hemsley 19:38, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
I think we as a Beatles WikiProject agreed upon stubbing solo songs with that template too (after a lot of Gordon's changes were made, c'est la vie, and it's no big deal!). I think it would make sense, and furthermore it is apparently not desired on a wider scale to create many more new stub templates. I'm about to look through what was said and make some changes to the template to clarify this issue if need be and in the meantime I've asked Gordon to hold fire :) --kingboyk 21:47, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
Will do. Let me know if you need anything else. :) Gordon P. Hemsley 21:52, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
The 'list' I was referring to, by the way, is the list in the stub-sorting project of stub categories that are oversized (above 5 pages or ~1000 articles). Crystallina 01:19, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

WikiProject Musicians and the ongoing categorization effort

Hi, I notice you were responsible for creating Category:Canadian singers by style and populating it. You may be interested to know that a major categorization effort for all musicians is currently underway at Wikipedia:WikiProject Musicians/Categorization. (Actually, it's been a bit quiet so far. Spreading the word, I guess.) Your category fit perfectly into the category structure, which saved quite a bit of time just now.

Also, interactive fiction? Should I recognize you from the community...? –Unint 03:14, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. I was partly responsible for the male/female debacle awhile ago, populating them anyway.

You wouldn't recognize me, I haven't actually done anything except lurk on ifMUD under a different name. I still haven't written anything. Crystallina 15:44, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

Hey, I could say the same about myself. I've probably seen you around some days without knowing it. – Unint 04:03, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

Daniel Wolf

Daniel Wolf lives in Germany, not in the United States. That's why I changed the stub to "composer" rather than "US composer"... Of course he is American, but I think an "American composer" something different than "United States composer"... Selfinformation 23:09, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

US-composer

Thanks for responding. Why is it US-composer and not American composer anyway? "US-composer" seems to me to suggest a geographical position... Selfinformation 12:46, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

Ambient Techno

hello, I edited Ambient Techno (that is already included in Ambient music) with the purpose to split the main Ambient music article in many parts, becouse it's too large, and also becouse the Ambient techno and ambient house scenes (not mentioning other ambient derived styles) are different genres from the Ambient by Brian Eno, Jon Hassell, Harold Budd, Robert Fripp, David Sylvian, Russell Mills and so on, not mentioning ambient-new age tracks by Private Music and ECM labels. Brian Wilson 20:40, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi... it's no big deal and you didn't do anything wrong, but just for future reference: you could have added {{db-band}} to the Brightwood article rather than put it up for deletion discussion. See Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion, articles section, number 7. Thanks. - Motor (talk) 11:04, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

Samurai Proposal

Sarah, I just posted a question to your Samurai stub proposal... would you take a look at it, and let me know what you think? Thanks, Brandon

Speedy deletion and Proposed deletion

Hi there! Thanks for your contributions to AfD. I wondered if you were aware of two other methods of deletion, Speedy and Proposed.

  • Speedy deletion is for articles that are obvious nonsense or non-notable, see WP:SD for guidelines and instructions.
  • Proposed deletion is for articles that do not meet speedy criteria, but are obvious deletes and non-controversial. It allows you to post a notice on the article page, and it automatically gets deleted after a few days. See WP:PROD for more info.

I only mention this because some of your AfD entries could easily qualify for either of those methods, and thus, not expend time of other editors to research and discuss. For example, Blokkispace and Barmixtalk.

Any questions, feel free to reply or leave a message on my Talk page. Thanks, have a great day, and keep up the great work. Aguerriero (talk) 21:16, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

WikiProject Musicals

Hi! I'm leaving you this message because your name is listed as a participant in WikiProject Musicals (previously WikiProject Broadway) or I feel you may be interested in the project. It seems that the project has laid dormant for quite awhile, but I would like to work toward getting it up and operative. I have a few ideas that I've outlined on the talk page, and would love your input. Working together, I think we can signifigantly improve the quality of the articles relating to musicals on Wikipedia. —  MusicMaker 06:11, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

A question about whistle register and sourcing

Would a short (a few seconds) audio clip of a singer accessing whistle register as defined in the article be verifiable enough? If not, I'll keep digging for sources. Crystallina 14:22, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Is the clip you? A homemade clip would be acceptable. you would have to be willing to allow other editors to verify it though, and your clip may be subjected to harsh editing by others depending on its quality. If it is homemade do take a good look at the licenses you choose. I'd go for the creative common's license as I believe it gives you more author rights. You may wish to look it up. But yes homemade is fine. If commercial, you will have to find an authoritive source saying that portion is whistle first. I would accept the classic Carey, or Riperton portions of song's in which everyone knows they hit whistle though. Especially Riperton, she made whistle commercially popular. --I'll bring the food 16:40, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
Well, considering I have no Wikipedia article, it wouldn't be about me. I was just wondering if clips would be acceptable sources for the contested singer articles. Of course, that requires a definition of whistle register as any note above X, which if I recall correctly is contested as well. Crystallina 16:42, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
authoritive source saying that portion is whistle first
Surely this means that a clip alone is not enough, that an additional respected source (which can hence be referenced) would be needed first stating that the whistle register is accessed. LinaMishima 16:50, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
There are sources (reviews of her new album) for Carey stating songs in which she uses her whistle register, see her article at Mariah Carey.--I'll bring the food 16:55, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

(copied from my talk page)

Well, i'm confused now, are we talking samples of the whistle register for the whistle register page as I thought we were, or are we talking specific artists?--I'll bring the food 16:55, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
I see. Time to continue digging for sources, then. (I was talking about specific articles - just trying to see where I should direct my digging.) Crystallina 16:59, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
As an exception, you may post a sample of any artist's song (30 sec max tho), but if it includes whistle register you cannot label it so without a source, as such would break our OR rule. --I'll bring the food 17:01, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Sarah Brightman

This article uses original research in the reference to Brightman hitting a note with a link to youtube. Does Brightman have to hit an E6 by role? If the role calls for the note, please find the sheet music, and verify the text by sourcing the ref with the page with the note showing her hitting it. And the ISBN etc of the sheet book.--I'll bring the food 17:19, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

To be fair, I didn't add that section; I just corrected some incorrect information.
But anyway, the role was written for her, she was the original performer, and it specifically calls for an E6. (I think this is actually specified in audition information for Phantom, but I'd have to find old issues of Backstage magazine to make sure.) I do have a copy of the official Phantom of the Opera songbook with sheet music, and that note is specified. The book wouldn't have pictures of her singing the note since that song is always pre-recorded and not sung live, but it does have pictures of her in the original production. Finally, I have the original cast recording if that helps. Crystallina 17:25, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
Okay, songbook added. Crystallina 18:44, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your note about Bascon. I suppose I could draw a parallel with the Baker Street Irregulars or the Jane Austen Society as groups of amateur enthusiasts (rather than academics or professional critics) interested in a particular literary genre and to say that they are all notable because they provide both an audience and a better understanding of their particular genre. The blogs aren't an ideal source, but they confirm what's reported in the article and they are internally consistent. TruthbringerToronto (Talk | contribs) 04:10, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi

I am a new user of wikipedia. I love this site for it's great information. I had created one article but it has considered to be deleted. What I have to do to keep this article existing. I want to be a perfect user of wiki. May be I am lacking on some knowledges, please help me to learn and to know wiki more perfectly.

Batch

Thanks for your message. But I would really appreciate if you could elaborate on the subject, as to what needs to be modified in the article, since I am unable to trace the points mentioned in your message. I had compiled my article after going through a few other articles under “Community websites” and “Social Networking” namely Reunion.com and few others and tried to compile a similar article.

Eagerly awaiting your valued reply, to compile a proper article which can be placed in wiki.

Thanks & Regards.

Make sure you add the Category:Living people to articles you categorize if people are still alive so they will be picked up by the Biography project. Lincher 01:45, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

It is better to add this than to have libelious attacks on that persons page and not being seen by anyone. I tell you that a bot picks up all the biography of living persons so I order to prevent personal attacks or to counter vandalism, such a tag should be applied. Also, since adding to the wikiproject is done manually expect for the biographies of living persons, it is preferable that they are caught sooner than later by the bot and added to the project.
