Disambiguation link notification for December 4
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Diocese of Lincoln, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ness (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Bishop naming conventions.
[edit]Hi, I see that you changed a few names of bishops. Are you aware of naming conventions for bishops? It states "For bishops and archbishops in the Western world, do not use their episcopal or archiepiscopal title in the article name unless necessary for disambiguation.". You may therefore wish to revert some of your recent moves. Peace. Laurel Lodged (talk) 19:58, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
- Which are not necessary for disambiguation? I never add unnecessary dab phrases. DBD 21:57, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thomas Joseph Nicolson - there was no need to add the bishop part as no other such person exists. Or have I mixed up the sequences? Laurel Lodged (talk) 22:08, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
- Since there is a disambiguation page at Thomas Nicolson, there is a need for (bishop). DBD 22:13, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
- Bit of post hoc work there. But OK then. Thanks. Laurel Lodged (talk) 22:45, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
- What do you mean post hoc? That dab page has existed for three years! DBD 11:30, 21 January 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for your message, DBD. Just got in from hectic day with family. Will look at tomorrow: Basher Bashereyre (talk) 22:32, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
Hi DBD, could we have the discussion you propose at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (clergy) than on your user special talk page (User talk:DBD/WP:BISHOP)? In the past when other proposals about bishops, archbishops, cardinals, etc, they have been discussed on the Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (clergy) page. Scrivener-uki (talk) 15:22, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
- Of course, no worries. What do you think of the proposed format? DBD 15:29, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
- I wholeheartedly agree with point 1 of the proposal and grudgingly agree with point 2 for them to stay as they are. But I disagree with point 3. I'll give a full reply to them when you put forward the proposal at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (clergy). Scrivener-uki (talk) 19:47, 22 February 2014 (UTC)

ADs of Bm, Wn and Bstk
[edit]Good point, DBD: what I thought was confusing was listing all those ancient archdeacons as Ads of Bournemouth. They were all known as ADcn of Winchester, and their area included that now served by the modern archdeaconry. I leave it entirely up to youBashereyre (talk) 15:00, 4 April 2014 (UTC)

William Sinclair
[edit]Hopefully the latest moves have sorted out the problem with articles titles. The father/son disambiguator was particularly bad, not only because most William Sinclairs have been fathers and sons, but also because William Sinclair, 1st Earl of Caithness and William Sinclair, 2nd Earl of Caithness form another father/son pair.
