Flatbush

I see that you edited the SGO from the Flatbush page. But I wanted you to understand that I got the idea from Maimonidies school in Boston (it's a modern orthodox school with the same hashkafa as Flatbush)--- I think its worthwile looking at their page. I didn't ask for an apology! I just left a message to inform you that the move had been performed. Frankly, I think freakofnurture could have done it himself. I've taken the opportunity to do some cleaning up of Shulchan Aruch. Perhaps we should discuss the necessity of the long inline quote from the relatively unknown Menachem Elon. The West Bank Article

Hey DLand, I stumbled across the West Bank article, and unfortunately it is biased, trying to show the Palestinian presence there more than the Israeli. Try fixing it up by showing Jewish relevance to the land. I will try to do the same. David Betesh

Conducting Link-Spamming Edit

Hello, DLand, I am not offended by your edit of the Conducting page to remove the link to my Conductor Program article, but I am surprised. I consider the article to be the most comprehensive resource about computer-assisted performance/conducting on the web. I'm new to Wikipedia, so I don't know the best way to do things; is there some other topic where a link to this article would be more appropriate? Or should I add the article itself to Wikipedia in some form? Thanks for your help. Stephen Malinowski

Conducting software

I didn't post a Wikipedia article about the Music Animation Machine because I thought it would be perceived as blatantly self-promotional, so I chose instead to post a link to my article on computer-assisted conducting, which had relatively little to do with my efforts in the field (mentioning me only as one contributor among many). So it's ironic to have the link to the conductor program article removed, and be offered the suggestion to instead submit a Music Animation Machine page. You also suggested I write an article on conducting software. If I did that, would it be appropriate to add a link to it to the Conducting page? And if so, how is that different from adding a link to the already-written article? Stephen Malinowski

Just because you do not agree does not make my action vandalism.

Yeshivah of Flatbush controversy

You'll notice that I haven't re-reverted your edit yet, but at the same time, I'm not sure that this is within the scope of the article. The article deals with broad categories of information about the school, not about individual incidents, regardless of how interesting or scandalous they may be. The Stadtmauer story is good for shock value, but doesn't really add anything to an encyclopedia article about the Yeshivah of Flatbush, which was a thriving institution decades before Alan Stadtmauer was born. I want to remove the section, but I'd like to hear your thoughts first. --DLand^TALK 22:20, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

I think it's a newsworthy event for the school. Principal leaves school, OK, but principal/rabbi leaves religion, not just Orthodoxy? How often does this happen? There should be some balance from the school (if possible), but I'd have to here a clear justification for why it's not relevant at all. Alansohn 22:24, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

The cited ref goes out of its way to point out his call is non-binding; I think non-Jews could assume someone with the title "Chief Rabbi of Israel" would have authority to "excommunicate" someone. -- Kendrick7^talk 23:01, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
