Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but it appears you have written or added to an article about yourself, at Dan Antopolski. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. Autobiography[edit]

A Wikipedia biography is not intended to be used as a professional resume--only notable and properly sourced content may be included. Also, if you've been editing your biography using several accounts, one of them an IP, that ought to be divulged. I've requested further input here [1], where you're welcome to comment. This is all by way of clarifying why much of the current content may be deleted. Thank you, 2601:188:1:AEA0:65F5:930C:B0B2:CD63 (talk) 14:25, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse me for butting in. Dan, don't take it personally. Wikipedia sees a lot of vanity edits to articles about artists, so editors usually frown when this happens. And as WikiDan explained to you, everything has to be reliably sourced. IMDB isn't considered a reliable source. And then there's the possible conflict of interest. Editing an article about yourself is probably the worst possible start for a new contributor. I don't think there will be a problem if you just add reliable sources and citations but yes, you will be watched closely. Don't let it get you down. If I can help, feel free to drop me a line on on my Talk page. (By the way, please sign your posts. Just type four tildes ~~~~ and they'll be converted to a timestamped signature when you save the message.) Cheers, Yintan  16:20, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A gentleman at last. I appreciate your message Yintan. As you see I have approached this community a touch naively! I am more than happy to be watched closely as I'm not making false claims - and that the burden of proof be on me is fine. I think I've invited suspicion by saving a flurry of largely cosmetic edits as I go along, it will all look more solid to cynical eyes in a few days when I've added citations. I think even more than the idea that I'm being grubbily promotional, it's the nerd in me that's a little hurt! Thanks for your offer of advice, I'd love to take you up on that over the next week. Best wishes Dan A.

I've started adding some references from articles in The Guardian, The Observer, and others. Not quite sure if Chortle is considered a reliable source, I'll look into that. If it is, it would save a lot of Googling. I'd like to cut some of your lists down a bit, though. The Radio section is massive, maybe only keep the most notable shows? Same thing goes for the TV listing. Yintan  17:50, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Look for example at the way Chris Addison's career is listed. Mainly text, mentioning the main points, instead of lists. Yintan  08:00, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Yintan - Thank you so much for your help with these citations. I'm still figuring out how to do it and will copy your way over the next few days. Also I will take the format of Chris Addison's page as a template - I had used other comedian's pages previously. I will condense and select the radio credits etc so it's not so exhaustive. Best wishes Dan Danantopolski (talk) 12:24, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I think you better leave the article alone, your work is doing more harm than good because of the WP:COI concerns. I've moved it to my sandbox so I can work on it there. Yintan  13:22, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Okay Yintan. Thanks for taking it on, I'll walk away. Best wishes Dan A Danantopolski (talk) 17:48, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Jesus[edit]

We're looking for a reliable source about your Jesus role but can't find it. It is mentioned in some articles' leads (as in "Dan, who played Jesus in the Da Vinci Code, is currently working on blah-blah-blah") but a more substantial source would be good. Can you enlighten us? The same goes for other sources; if you happen to know of sites/links that could be used, please let me know. Yintan  04:21, 2 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Yintan

Thanks for your efforts. There may not be what you consider a reliable public source, only private ones - correspondence, call sheets. I can show a royalty payment slip from BECS! But if this has to be a public source I may not have anything. Most of the minor cast of this film on IMDB are listed as uncredited - and nobody has even put me on that list, I had been intending to update my IMDB profile after cleaning up wikipedia, it is quite out of date. In any case I sought to include it on wikipedia as people have always found my fleeting appearance in this movie curious.

In reference to the awards section it would be pertinent - following Chris Addison, David O Doherty, Tony Law etc to mention my Perrier Best Newcomer Award nominated show 'Second Coming' in 2000 (citation: http://www.comedyawards.co.uk/best-newcomer) and two Perrier Award Nominated shows: 'Lee Mack's New Bits' with Lee Mack and Catherine Tate, also in 2000 - and 'Antopolski 2000' in 2001 (citation: http://www.comedyawards.co.uk/best-comedy-show). Woven into a paragraph Yintan style.

Under Television work, a link for The Dare Devil is http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/shows/the-dare-devil

As I find more links I'll propose them to you here. Best wishes Dan Danantopolski (talk) 19:16, 2 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Another quesion: is there a photograph of you available that can be used on Wikipedia? In other words: not copyrighted? See WP:COPYRIGHT and WP:CC BY-SA for details on Creative Commons licenses and such. Yintan  11:07, 3 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

HI Yintan - sorry not to have replied sooner - busy few days. Did you say you found a picture with the right licence on flickr? Best Dan 51.9.238.189 (talk) 23:28, 8 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Proofing[edit]

In the paragraph below, Edinburgh is missing a final 'h' and the facts are that in 2000 I was nominated for the Perrier Best Newcomer Award and shared a Perrier Award ['Best Show'] nomination with Lee Mack and Catherine Tate for sketch show 'Lee Mack's New Bits'. I was nominated for the Perrier Award ['Best Show'] for my solo show in 2001. Best Dan 51.9.238.189 (talk) 23:34, 8 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

In 1998 Antopolski won the BBC New Comedy Award[2] and in 2009 won the Dave Award for Best Joke at the 2009 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The joke, "Hedgehogs - why can't they just share the hedge?", went viral and Antopolski's agents had to issue a cease and desist order to a T-shirt company reproducing the joke.[3][9] He was nominated for the "Perrier Best Newcomer Award" at the Edinburg Festival in 2000[10] and for "Best Show" in 2001.[10]

I'll fix it. Working on the main Dan Antopolski article now, no longer in sandbox. Yintan  11:21, 9 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Photo[edit]

The photo I found had the wrong CC license so no, I haven't got a pic for the info box yet. If you have a photograph that is suitable for Wikipedia (no copyright, free for commercial use, etc) and clearly states so on the source page, please let me know. The publicity pics on your website don't say anything about licensing so using one of those could start a discussion again. Another option is to use a copyrighted image and give Wikipedia permission to use it (see Commons:OTRS) but that's a bit more work. Yintan  11:14, 9 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Yintan

Hope all well. The photographer has kindly changed the license details on this photo on flickr for use on the Dan Antopolski wikipedia page:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/diamondgeyser/2254118515

If this is okay and you have time perhaps you might upload it? Else of course I can.

Best wishes for the season

Hi Dan. Public domain is perfect. I've added the photo. Thanks. Yintan  11:17, 21 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The story so far...[edit]

So, anything we've missed in the article? Any suggestions, remarks? Yintan  14:19, 21 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
