User talk:Diane.marina
Welcome
[edit]Hello, Diane.marina, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I notice that one of the first articles you created was Diane Marina, which appears to be an article about yourself. This is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians—as this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. Your user page, however, is a great place to write about yourself, making sure to stay within user page guidelines. Just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit it normally.
The page you created about yourself may well be deleted from the encyclopedia. If it is deleted and you wish to retrieve its contents, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

Hi, I am an author and tried to make a page with my bio and my body of work. I don't understand why that was deleted?
- Hi Diane. It's not a good idea to write about yourself or about subjects you're closely affiliated with. This is because you have an inherent conflict of interest. The reason why the page was deleted in this instance was that it didn't assert why the subject of the article (i.e. you) would meet the guidelines for inlcusion. It's already quite hard for newcomers to really understand how these guidelines work, and the inherent conflict of interest makes it even harder to do so. While it's not strictly disallowed, it's definitely frowned upon. I strongly advice you not to write about yourself. That said, if you want more information about creating a new article, it might be a good idea to look at our guide for writing your first article and the article wizard.
