Conflict of interest in WIkipedia

[edit]

Hi xxxx I work on conflict of interest issues here in Wikipedia, along with my regular editing. Your edits to date are on a bit of a run about Bhargav Gajjar and Vishwa Robotics and are promotional. I'm giving you notice of our Conflict of Interest guideline and Terms of Use, and will have some comments and requests for you below.

Information icon Hello, Divergenes. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you.

Comments and requests

[edit]

Wikipedia is a widely-used reference work and managing conflict of interest is essential for ensuring the integrity of Wikipedia and retaining the public's trust in it. As in academia, COI is managed here in two steps - disclosure and a form of peer review. Please note that there is no bar to being part of the Wikipedia community if you want to be involved in articles where you have a conflict of interest; there are just some things we ask you to do (and if you are paid, some things you need to do).

Disclosure is the most important, and first, step. While I am not asking you to disclose your identity (anonymity is strictly protecting by our WP:OUTING policy) would you please disclose if you have some connection with Bhargav Gajjar or Vishwa Robotics, directly or through a third party (e.g. a PR agency or the like)? You can answer how ever you wish (giving personally identifying information or not), but if there is a connection, please disclose it. After you respond (and you can just reply below), I can walk you through how the "peer review" part happens and then, if you like, I can provide you with some more general orientation as to how this place works. Please reply here, just below, to keep the discussion in one place. Thanks! Jytdog (talk) 20:33, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Gajjar Bhargav

[edit]

Hello Divergenes,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Gajjar Bhargav for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source, probably infringing copyright.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Information icon Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Bhargav Gajjar, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. SamHolt6 (talk) 02:25, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion

[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard regarding a possible conflict of interest incident with which you may be involved. Thank you. Jytdog (talk) 06:02, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

there is no direct relationship between subjects, topics,editors violating COI rules (pay for editing, product promotion etc) of wikipedia. Recommend reviewing other similar topics on Wikipedia relating to advanced technology also.Recommend removal of notices with additional verification of sources provided by several different authors. Wikipedia readers may benefit from such special emerging topics such as robotics. Wikipedia could be source of such latest information. Request removal of speedy deletion since additional material maybe added after it becomes available. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Divergenes (talkcontribs) 18:34, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for replying. Quick note on the logistics of discussing things on Talk pages, which are essential for everything that happens here. In Talk page discussions, we "thread" comments by indenting (see WP:THREAD) - when you reply to someone, you put a colon in front of your comment, which the Wikipedia software will render into an indent when you save your edit; if the other person has indented once, then you indent twice by putting two colons in front of your comment, which the WP software converts into two indents, and when that gets ridiculous you reset back to the margin (or "outdent") by putting this {{od}} in front of your comment. This also allows you to make it clear if you are also responding to something that someone else responded to if there are more than two people in the discussion; in that case you would indent the same amount as the person just above you in the thread. I hope that all makes sense. And at the end of the comment, please "sign" by typing exactly four (not 3 or 5) tildas "~~~~" which the WP software converts into a date stamp and links to your talk and user pages when you save your edit. That is how we know who said what to whom and when.
Please be aware that threading and signing are fundamental etiquette here, as basic as "please" and "thank you", and continually failing to thread and sign communicates rudeness, and eventually people may start to ignore you (see here).
Will reply on the substance in a second... Jytdog (talk) 18:36, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Your response is not credible and dodges the question, which is whether you have any relationship with Bhargav Gajjar. In Wikipedia editing about yourself or someone you know is a conflict of interest. Please reconsider your answer. Jytdog (talk) 18:36, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for information on double indent, using it now.. Repeat no relationship. note multiple independent, third-party sources that describe the subject in detail, such as newspaper articles have been provided. Articles that don't meet wikipedia notability criteria should be deleted but vishwa robotics is mentioned in several nationally recognized news articles. Divergenes (talk) 21:57, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
On the indenting, you always put one more colon than the person did, to whom you are responding. Your response about COI is again, completely non-credible. All that this account (and several others) have done is edit about this person and his companies. There is no reason on earth why any one would do this, who does not have some connection. I will not be replying to you further; I have asked multiple times and you have chosen to respond as you have. Jytdog (talk) 23:59, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
