Welcome![edit]

Hello, Dkim5290, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please complete the student training, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Non-technical skills requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.abdn.ac.uk/iprc/uploads/files/NOTECHS%20HFAS%20proof%20copy.pdf. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Non-technical skills[edit]

Hi, I was creating an article on the NOTECHS system and you deleted my page due to "G12: Unambiguous copyright infringement." I am still new to Wikipedia so I must've done something wrong. Could I please have the information back so that I could correct it? Thank you. -- Dkim5290 (talk) 21:09, 14 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Not just a copyvio: a distinct style violation! Please remember you are writing an encyclopedia article not a student essay. Simply re-stating the content of the subject's website, even if it not a copyvio, does not make an article. There was absolutely no mention of where this system is used. Indeed there was no evidence that anybody actually uses it.
One of your references was useless because it required a username and password. And none of the other references provided even the slightest evidence that the system is notable. I am happy to provide a copy of your text - please read this. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 23:08, 17 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
