Image copyright problem with Image:Laborde123.jpg[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Laborde123.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 14:53, 4 October 2007 (UTC) ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++[reply]

What tag do you want me to remove?

Your username[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?

The problem I've noticed is that your name contains the word "bot", which is generally reserved for automatic accounts known as bots which require special approval from the Bot Approvals Group.

I'd appreciate learning your own views, for instance your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.

You have several options freely available to you:

Sorry for the confusion, my user name is DoctorRobot. I just made it up for no reason. Is there a way i can change it without changing my account?

Russian Cyber Attack on Estonia – Jose Nazario[edit]

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Russian Cyber Attack on Estonia – Jose Nazario, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. Oops sorry![edit]

I don't know how to delete pages. could you do it for me?

Adoption[edit]

My first adoptee! What would you like to know first? —Ignatzmicetalkcontribs 18:27, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

1[edit]

For starters, how do you find and/or revert vandalism?

You can find vandalism by going to Special:Recentchanges and looking. The Recent Changes look like:
  • (diff) (hist) .. Article Changed; Time Changed .. (number of bytes added/removed) .. User who changed it (talk | contribs) (edit summary)
Look for large removals (the number will be dark red) by IP addresses — these are often vandalism. Click on (diff) and you will be taken to a page like this. Click (undo). Make sure you want to revert and click Save.
There are many programs and scripts to make detecting (Lupin's AntiVandal Tool) and reverting (I use Twinkle) easier. See more at the Counter-Vandalism Unit. —Ignatzmicetalkcontribs 18:45, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Hi, there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 18:34, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Robosapien 2.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Robosapien 2.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Re: Is it legal...[edit]

I suppose so, but I'm not sure. Try asking at the help desk. Also, try to add ~~~~ (shift + `, usually) to sign your comments, like this >>. —Ignatzmicetalkcontribs 14:30, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Robosapien 2.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Robosapien 2.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 20:39, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Block notice[edit]

Hey there, I noticed that back in October you placed block notices on an IP's talk page. However, the IP had not been blocked since January, nor is it currently blocked. Only administrators can actually block, and should be the only ones that place block notices on a user's page. This isn't an official warning, but I'd like to ask you to not do that anymore. In the future, if you think a vandal should be blocked, report them to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Thanks. GlassCobra 20:57, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Doctorrob! If a user is vandalizing and you think they need to be blocked, you'll want to go to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism and report the user name or the IP number there. If they've vandalized enough, they will be given a block. I appreciate you taking my request to not add block templates to users' pages seriously, and thank you very much for your dedication to our fine site. :) If you have any more questions about vandals, or anything else, feel free to ask me! GlassCobra 19:12, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It works better and faster if you read the instructions when you edit Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Automated programs handle that page. When you just add text the way you did, it confuses the program and requires a human being to take extra steps. Once you click "edit", read the text that shows up before you type.Kww (talk) 19:25, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your report to WP:AIV[edit]

I have removed your report at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. In addition to what Kww mentioned, you missed one huge component to your vandalism report. The instructions on the page read as follows: "Editors: Before listing a vandal here, ensure that: 1. The vandal is active now..." At the time of your report, the vandal in question had not made any edits for five days. Again, please make sure you follow the directions closely when reporting vandals. Request to participate in University of Washington survey on tool to quickly understand Wikipedians’ reputations[edit]

Hello. I'm part of a research group at the University of Washington. In April, we met with some local Wikipedians to learn what they would like to know about other editors’ history and activities (within Wikipedia) when interacting with them on talk pages. The goal of those sessions was to gather feedback to help design an embedded application that could quickly communicate useful information about other Wikipedians. We have now created a few images that we feel represent some of what our participants thought was important. We would appreciate it if you took a few minutes of your time to complete an online survey that investigates whether or not these images would be useful to you. Your quick contribution would be very valuable to our research group and ultimately to Wikipedia. (When finished, the code for this application will be given over to the Wikipedia community to use and/or adjust as they see fit.)

Willing to spend a few minutes taking our survey? Click this link.

Please feel free to share the link with other Wikipedians. The more feedback, the better! The survey is completely anonymous and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. All data is used for university research purposes only.

Thank you for your time! If you have any questions about our research or research group, please visit our user page. Commprac01 (talk) 00:36, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Doctorrob1234! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot notifying you on behalf of the the unreferenced biographies team that 1 of the articles that you created is currently tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 943 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:
